Made another trip down to the Cheramie and Lake Palourde again today with numbnuts and one of his friends...caught 7 before the rain shut us down; 2 bass on blue saphire speed craws, 2 bream, and 3 catfish on worms. The rain was preceded by lightning and when it struck, we jumped. We raced back to the launch off of HWY 398, but while doing so, we made an unscheduled stop on top of some cypress knees which dented the boat up pretty good. Numbnuts, trying to not get pelted by any more rain decided to go 45mph in a bayou no wider than a 2 lane highway, and take a hairpin turn without slowing down. Finally made it to the launch soaking wet and loaded up and left with lightning following us all the way to Donaldsonville. Its not the first time we had to outrun lightning, and it won't be the last either. Oh and I'll probably be getting a ticket for littering shortly because someone decided that it would be funny to drop a Popeyes cup full of red Fanta in the middle of HWY 70 with about 15 cars behind me.....he got slapped. :cheers:
