It is the best inshore fish on the coast..... West Matty is probably the best place to catch them in Texas - If you know how to catch them.... Where do yall find them there???

where i grew up fishing they are only offshore, weed lines, debris, buoy chain....

saw an episode of keith warren in tx catching huge ones on poppin corks and shrimp, never caught one that big.

Come on over to Matty, I'll put you on some..... We had seven before the wind started blowing two weeks ago... My tourney partner went yesterday and it's back on again.... May head that way here shortly.....:smokin:

Are they always that beat up? Are those worms all over it?

Capt. Ryan Rachunek
06-25-2009, 01:18 PM
It's not beat up, they change color when put on ice.... That's not worms, just something that stuck to it from the pier.....

oh yea, seen quite a few boats end up high ground many a time! They had them arrows or something, i used to actually get right in the middle of the dredged area, big trout would hold up in there when the lake got hot, it was easy pickings with them pilings!

Frank Davis did a thing last Summer on the news about Triple Tails in Lake Ponchartrain. I've never caught one, but they are legendary table fare here in Texas.

Thanks for the offer Ryan. I'll do so one of these days. I'm just too hung up trying to deal with fixing Blockade Runners and tearing down the Ghost Camp. As long as none of Ike's friends visit this year, I'll be up for it next year.
