Are the 2 valves used to control the air going to the fire?

If so, do the pipes extend toward the center so that the air comes out under the fire?

Nice looking smoker.

thanks, yes the two valves are used to control air to the fire. they dont extend all the way to the center, but come out about 2 in. the plugs in the side at the bottom also allow air to the fire. with the plugs and two ball valves open, she'll get up to around 400. i usally leave the plugs in and open the valves half way. it will hover around 230-250.
