Nothing is off limits in the lake, DHH (Department of Health and Human Services) determine whether or not areas can be fished in the lake only.
If they say Turners is clean enough to harvest oysters they will be there next. The pvc pipe with pink on them are all the way up to Texaco Cut and mark potential harvest areas. That's about all I can say about the matter right now. I encourage everyone to contact their legislators and express your thoughts on the situation, which is fairly easy.

Regards,

Raymond

The North line is just to the North of Long Point and runs straight across the lake to the East bank.
For years, the East bank was off limits. Not no more. They are scratching the bottom everywhere they can.

Question...... if there were a few boat fishing on the reef, who has the "right of way"? Who gets to "fish" that reef....fishermen or Oyster boats?

There is no right of way... Oyster boats don't give a rats azz about fisherman...who is going to fish a reef with one oyster boat more less 32 like today

Once they drag across a reef, there won't be many fish left anyway.
And they get going at the crack of dawn.
We just gotta let them clean out the East side, then let the govt shut it down for a few years.

Nope, lots of the Oysters from the East side of the state were killed due to fresh water diversion to keep oil out of the marshes.
Chesapeke Bay Oyster season closed due to high bacteria counts.

We got the prime Oysters and the high unemployment rates got everyone with a boat fishing them since they allowed dredges. Too easy to make $300/day now.

I hope that I don't get banned for this but all we have to do is put a brick in a plastic bag, put the bag in a bucket, and fill the bucket with poop. Then put some holes in the bag and drop it on the reef. Fecal coliform contamination is the only thing that will stop oystering when the agencies will not regulate them. It's illegal but WLF can't seem to get their act together. Nice knowing you guys, I'm probably out of here.
