That's nothing y'all. You should see the stuff I get from 7th graders. I'd say a full 1/4 of them can't spell Virginia. They give me reports about "Vagina" instead. Let me quote,

"One of the moste famous ginerals in the cival war was Robert E. Lee of Vagina. He wuz a grate man and a bryllyant gineral, but he messed up at Ghettysberg and ended up loosing the war. He is still respected today as a grate Vaginian and American."

I'd tear my hair out if it would do any good. At least they got the facts straight, if not the spellings. :D

Guys, I'm tellin' y'all. If you could only read the stuff I have to on a daily basis. It gets me so depressed. You've gotta laugh or you're gonna cry. I don't think they teach spelling in grammar schools anymore. I have some students at the beginning of each year that don't even know they live in the United States. Try getting them to spell Louisiana when they can't even spell Texas. I have 2 of them that still want to call it the great state of Taxes. How about Alhamaba or Misippi? Oh, and the perennial favorite, Flordia. Heck that was misspelled on Rod N Reel dot com for over a year until I finally complained to them to change it.

In 3rd grade, it's funny. Later it just becomes sad.

By the way, Jr. year I was the La. state spelling bee runner up. :D

I BET YOU DO!!!

You know, the Mandated Tests students must take.
After students take them they think schools over and the rules get thrown out.

Every State is supposed to have theses TESTs

In La. they had the LEAP test. Same idea as the TAKS, but wayyyy easier. I think it's actually these standardized tests that are making everyone stupid. When I was told a while back that all my tests had to be multiple choice, no more essay questions on the tests, I knew something was wrong. Instead of teaching kids to think, everything is multiple choice. My response to this edict was that life isn't multiple choice.

Y'all want a laugh? I'm from La. but here I teach Texas history. I had to read the text book before my first year just so I could learn the material. After 5 years, I kind of know what I'm doing. Before I took my current job, I taugh Civics/Government, U.S. History, World History, Sociology, Psychology, and World Geography. Also taught Economics, but I didn't understand the textbook. That didn't last long.

People here laugh and say it takes a Coonass to teach Texas history. Even though I'm not a real Coonass, I got tired of arguing that here and I just laugh.

Man, I'm not saying anything about the rest of the state, but the New Orleans was a cess pool of corrupt and worthless schools. It's why I came here. Oh, and while I'm not rich by any definition, I can pay my bills without living in my parent's house. I couldn't do that back home.

Dang Salty, are you Korean? I lost to a Korean kid. :D
