left cocodrie in solid 2's headed south, picked up our bait at the first stop very quickly, on the way out at about 60 miles we found a 4x8 piece of orange plastic floating, pulled up and was covered in triple tail and bait, then the blue water turned green, but the green was because of the mahi all around, we slung mahi like trout for an hour, when one guy dropped a cedar plug down on a big trolling reel geared up with 80 pound test. reel screams and breaks off, so we put down the light tackle and start trolling, pick up 7 wahoo.
we go back and pick up a few more chicken dolphin and decide to head south. the orange plastic produced 40 mahi.
at Pieces, we dropped the baits and within 4 minutes i was hooked up on a nice size wahoo.
with nothing marking on the sounder we headed west to Brutus. when we pulled up, topwater was on, i got spooled by a solid 60-70 pound fish while using a popper. tied another one on, and it was hooked, got it to the boat, about 40 pound YFT, all night they were hitting on topwater and diamond jigs, we broke quiet a few BIG yft off, and threw back 40 or so blackfin.
at sun up we tried to troll again, but the porpoise would not get out of our spread, so we headed north to Bullwinkle, nothing marking so we headed north a little more and found the AJ, we each got ahold of some nice aj's and there was no more room in the box.
Final tally was i think 8 wahoo, 4 AJ, 40 mahi, and 7 or 8 yft
great trip
headed back in to land wed for crew change, and headed straight to cocodrie to get on the boat for snapper season, and then thurs morning we are headed back south to brutus for some more tuna and wahoo action!!!!!
will post pics from this post after while, oh, and i forgot to mention, i missed the gaff on a nice yft and bull dolphin, my screw ups for the season
