Went out yesterday with a friend 60 miles out of Freeport and we had a memorable trip. We missed something big on our first bite, likely a wahoo, as it ripped the leader and took my buddy's best skirt. Got our limit of AJ's, a few chicken dolphin, and my son caught a sailfish on his first offshore billfish trip! Seas went flat as the day wore on and we got the sail in about 350' of water trolling around a floating log that had attracted the chicken dolphin.
Beautiful hook-up with 4 out of the air leaps and greyhounding big-time! Successful release. I'll post a video in a bit. Enjoying grilled AJ and Mahi tonight and reliving the trip.
