Cuddeback IR. This by far the best camera I've used. Have 3 of 'em. Have owned several different brands over the past 10 years or so. The only other one that had that lasted any length of time was the old buckshots.

I am not knocking the cuddeback IR but I had 2 of them and hated them. They went through batteries very quickly and missed a lot of deer on the IR mode. Maybe I just got some duds. I think cuddeback makes a great camera I just had bad luck with the IR.

With that being said it all depends what you want out of a camera. If you want a relatively inexpensive camera that takes decent pics. you can go with a Moultrie. They have good customer service and most people are pleased with them. I have a stealth cam v450. It takes very clear pics but the batteries last only about 2 1/2 weeks. I can also view the pics. on the camera itself in the field. If I were you I would choose any of the following 3 cameras. Cuddeback excite=lower end cuddeback but takes great pics. with a good trigger speed, leaf river=good all around camera and you can view the pics. in the field, or moultrie=not the cleares pics. but very good value and good service.

I really want something that will produce good pics, has a good trigger speed and will last a few weeks in the field before needing new batteries. I change the batteries pretty much every weekend but I want it to last in case something would happen I couldn't make it to the camp. I would like an IR so that it doesn't spook the deer too much when it flashes.

Well f you want IR then check out the ling below for the moultrie IR. I think you will be happy with it. Also you may want to look at the cuddeback IR, I just had bad luck with them but from the above post some people like them so maybe I just had bad cameras:

Check out these cameras. They are made by a fellow here in Louisiana, and if you have a problem he will fix it. I bought one a couple years ago and love it. The one I have is a flash camera but it has been very good. The best part about it is you can take the camera out of the box and use it if you want to take it on vacation.

I read some reviews on the Wild Game Innovtions camera. They say it takes excellent pictures and won't break the bank.

SG cameras are very nice but also very pricey. If money was no option I would def. have one but I can get 2 sometimes 3 moultries or stealth cams for what I can buy one Swamp ghost for. Swamp ghost also makes a IR version now so if money is not a problem def. go with a swamp ghost.

From what I read.....the Swamp Gost comes with several "extras" which adds to the cost.

But if you are going to buy these same items for another brand camera.....be sure you are compairing the total cost of each camera.

I really don't want anything too expensive because I will probably buy 2 or 3 for sure, maybe a couple more. My brother has a Swamp Ghost without the IR and it takes pretty good pics.

Good pictures. Same batteries for 3 years and still 50%.

Wow! That's pretty awesome. What kind of batteries does it take?

Either 6 or 8 "D" cell. Don't remember but I think it's 8.

Marshrat, those are great pics. You just sealed the deal for me. I was walking the fence on Moultries and Stealth Cam. I will spend a few more bucks and get the Swamp Ghost. I've own a Stealth Cam for a few years, but I always have to send it back this time of year when I need it most (twice)...

I have had to send the camera back once, due to me dropping it. I removed the camera from the box after sending an email to swamp ghost, and got the camera back in about 3 days.

I will get me an IR camera from him later but just don't have the funds right now.
