Just got this in an email. Any of you ever see this before? Or catch one for that matter? Dont think I would have brought it onboard.

my dad and I used to catch some freshwater ones in his hoop nets, and just those would gross me out when they would wrap around your arm while trying to throw them back overboard. I cant imagine pulling up one of these. Thats a beast

I have caught a 3 ft. eel that was about as big around as your arm. Thick and short.
It screwed up about 30 ft. of line on my reel. Caught at H.I. A-350.

I caught a couple in my crawfish traps last year. What was left of them was disgusting!! The crawfish seem to think of them as a delicacy!:puke:

My little boy catches some in his crawfish nets he sets in our back ditch. I think some people call them congs? they are about 18" long, black with a flat head, and 2 little bitty feet on the underside around the neck area.

We caught a few of those about 10 years ago out of Grand Isle. We were fishing some rigs on the edge of the canyon in about 300-400ft of water. The ones we caught weren't as big, maybe 3 ft. One of my buddies did keep one to try and eat it. We could have filled a 5 gallon bucket with the slime it made while we were beating the crap out of it with the fish bat. Those eels are tough!
