Greetings,

What are the regs regarding lights for kayak when paddling before sunrise and after sunset in Louisiana?

I read somewhere that you must display one white light with a one mile minimum with 360 degree visibility however I am not certain this is specific to Louisiana.

I dont know what the law is, but you'd have to be an idiot to paddle in the dark without making yourself well lit. Kayak vs boat does not turn out well for the kayak.

All you need is a flashlight. Me I would never mount the traditional lights on my kayak as a regular boat my mistake you for a boat and fly by and roll you. I currently have a bright led stern light that extends to 6' so airboats can see me in the marsh. The law is all you need is a light to signal though.

Applies to power driven vessels only, but I'd have a light if I was yakin in the dark.

Hi Chris,

All spelled out in black and white. Nice!

Best,
Tom
