Hello everyone, Im back into fishing after a 13 year break, and Im in the market for a good saltwater spinning reel. I fish the Sabine Lake and Marshes of Johnson Bayou for the most part. I currently use a Zebco reel w/ a med action Ugly Stik 7' and love the action I just think its time for a upgrade.m Im between a Penn Fierce or a Shimano Sonora. What do you think?? Thanks

Shimano Sonora hands down, I have used and abused the one I own and never had any troubles with it.
As far as a rod goes im not sure if Duce Rods has come out with the spinning rods yet, if they have I would go that route as a rod choice. If you looking for a lower end cheaper rod i would check out the Shimano Clarus Medium Fast action, thats what i have for my customer rods and they are light and not a bad action at all but they do not compare to Duce Rods what so ever.
Good Luck and tight lines!

Check out the Okuma Egg beaters too, they make excellent spinning reals

I would have thought Penn reels would be more favorable. What is it that most people dont like about the Penn spinning reels Thanks for the replys so far

Go with penn. carbon fiber drag and you won't have any problems with broken handles and reel foots
