I was wondering the same thing, I can't stand when people say that they "hunt" in high fence areas or places like this that put pens around the feeders. To me that's deer killing, not deer hunting...

Fence doesn't look that high. Deer can jump it with no problem. I think that was his way of keeping the pigs away from the corn.

I didn't think about that, good call.

In west Texas a lot of the ranches are goat ranches. They have to put those pens around the feeders to keep out the goats. The deer just hop in and out.

That is how most of those deer farms are in TX.......Feeders and Fences! That is like hunting in a Zoo.....

It's not like hunting in a zoo. The deer run free, they just have to jump the fence to get the corn. Put the feeder up and run a fence about 20 ft. around the feeder.
If you miss, they are out of there about 1 second slower than if there was no fence.
I have used hog wire to keep the hogs out of the corn. It keeps hogs out, but everything wild still gets in.

Ya the deer runs free to corn/feeders! I guess I am just jealous that us duck hunters cannot bait ducks like deer hunters can with deer!!!

I still don't understand why you can't bait for ducks...especially since there's a limit on them. To me 6 ducks is 6 ducks no matter how you kill them or how you get them to you, you can only kill 6! I could see if there was no limit on them then I would agree with no baiting.

Probably for the same reason you can't shock fish,

Think about this......not every duck hunter shoots a limit every time they go hunting. If Duck hunter were allow to bait......they probably would kill more more ducks.....limits would be killed more often. They would probably go hunting more often. They probably would bring more friends hunting and they would kill more ducks.

Do you see where this is going........a lot more duck would be killed. If people were killing way more duck.....soon there would be fewer ducks.

With fewer ducks..........the limits would have to be lowered to keep hunters from killing too many ducks.

Why the "Limit" is set where it is......... A hunting limit [either ducks or deer or anything] is set by the LDWF with the expectation of an estimated kill. If the expected kill [or some other major change happens] is altered.....then the limit may need to be changed.

I see people "gripe" about not being able to kill several deer or their whole limit in one day. After all, there is a limit. Allowing this could/would alter that total expected kill number.

Dynamite does.
That's right, but they don't seem to fair very well after they hit the icechest!

Ever seen anyone dynamite fish? IT'S COOL! I helped a friend on his place years ago with some big gravel pits that he was fixing to drain.

The water is not fresh enough around me to use a shocker.
I have seen the LDWF use them.
I tried to build one but it never worked. Even in the canals in the Big Burns.
The biologist at Rockefeller said if the salinity is too high, the elect. will go straight to
ground and not thru the water to the fish then to ground.

yeah we put fences around our feeders so deer can jump in but hogs can't. we usually cut our panels in half because a pig cant jump 3 inches off the ground and we only have to buy half the fence but i guess if they have goats on the property that makes more sense for the high ones
