Feeder question

Anybody have any problems with the deer not coming near your feeder? I've used one for the past two years and have not seen the first deer come near it. Not even a pic on the trail cam.

How high is it? the bottom of my feeders are minimum 10 ft from the ground, this seems to make them more comfortable when coming to them. I see deer feeding directly underneath the feeder all the time. Deer also seem to like some good cover close to the feeder for a quick getaway.

Mine is around 6 ft. I may just move it into the woods and use it during the summer and just chicken feed during the season.

A few years back i didn't have anything visiting my feeders but coons untill all the white oak acorns were gone.
Had 2 corn feeders and 2 sweet feed blocks out from oct untill feb. The deer finally started using them in mid to late dec.

eman is right, maybe try some roasted corn and soybeans this draws pretty good and smells like peanut butter, also expensive.

We've never had problems like that. All of our feeders are no more than 5 feet off the ground to the bottom of the motor.

I don't think the deer care how high( unless they find your patch)
I have allways used 6" pvc gravity feeders. They sit on the ground.
IMHO, We as hunters make deer hunting ALOT harder than it really is.
I know i'm a lil (or maybe alot older) than most here and have hunted w/ the old guys b4 me that never wore camo , never worried about scent blocker , smoked on the stand etc.etc.
They made sure that their bullet hit where they aimed and they learned where and when the deer would be.
Most of them could move thru the woods w/o being heard and they knew
more about the woods than i'll ever learn.
I miss them guys and their ways.:(

Talked to a guy yesterday who's been on the lease for 20 yrs. He told me that he used to have the same problem. So what he used to do before he got tired of fighting with the feeders, was that he moved his feeders out of the shooting lanes and into the woods. He would then just use the feeders strictly during the off season. He told me that when he would go to check them, he would scare deer off everytime. Once hunting season rolled around, he turned the feeders off and just chicken fed his lanes. He finally got tired of fighting feeders, so now he just feeds the lanes a day or two before he hunts. He sees deer all the time and killed a very nice 8 pt last year.I told him to go take mine down. LOL

Some that sounds like how I started out Deer hunting. I did not own any camo the first 3 or 4 years that I hunted. I just took out some blue jeans and either a green or brown looking shirt depending on what the leaves on the trees looked like. If it was cold, I would put on the long johns and my one coat that I wore all the time.

Sent control.....never heard of doing something special about that and still killed a few deer each year. Maybe I did not put on aftershave lotion to go hunting.

I grew up hunting squirrels and rabbits by sneeking up on them to get close enough to shoot them with a 22. Slow stalking is one of my favorite ways to hunt deer.....when the conditions are right.
