We accept pups into our puppy program at 12 weeks of age, but formal training doesn't start until pup is 5-6 months old. The oldest dog i have ever had in our retriever program was 3 yrs old.

I have an AKC 8 month old Atta boy yellow lab. I have been working with him and he is doing good on his commands like sit, down, off(lay down), heel, find(search) but he will only come to me if i squat down and call him and when i call his name its like i am not even talking. What ya think?

What are your prices on basic obedience. Sit, stay, load, lay down, come, hunt(like a trail) just your basics?

Matt, I highly reccomend Chuck Mc Call @ Chumac Kennels. I believe he has contact information on Amite Hunting Retriever Clubs website.;)
Plan to spend a minimum of $500.00 pre month for most trainers and run from any that charge less than that. I would also find out what kind of equipment they utilize to train their dogs, brand of dog food, total number of dogs being trained and how long they have been training retrievers. Personnally, I would look to someone who has experience with preformance tests; hunt test or field trials since their standards and expectations tend to be much higher. PM me if you need any other information.
