The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (http://www.bizjournals.com/profiles/company/us/dc/washington/federal_energy_regulatory_commission/1212081) has approved another liquefied natural gas export facility, which could be one of the largest of its kind in the U.S.

London-based BG Group (http://www.bizjournals.com/profiles/company/gb//reading/bg_group_plc/3009495) PLC, along with Dallas-based Energy Transfer Equity LP (http://www.bizjournals.com/profiles/company/us/tx/dallas/energy_transfer_equity_lp/3315816) (NYSE: ETE) and Energy Transfer Partners LP (http://www.bizjournals.com/profiles/company/us/tx/dallas/energy_transfer_partners_lp/3220553) (NYSE: ETP), announced Dec. 17 they received FERC’s approval to build and operate a natural gas liquefaction and export facility in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Lake Charles LNG Project also has conditional authorization from the U.S. Department of Energy (http://www.bizjournals.com/profiles/company/us/dc/washington/us_department_of_energy/3328643).

BG Group and Energy Transfer plan to make their final investment decisions about the project next year. Once the companies decide to move forward, construction will begin immediately, and LNG could be exported as soon as four years later.
