What would be the minimum for a rookie to get started?
a recommended kayak?
do you guys boat your kayak to distant places?

Don’t really mother ship much.

You could probably find a low end or used boat for about $300-$500. Get a paddle, life jacket, rod holders, anchors, etc. for another $100 if the boat didn’t come with it.
