I went and bought 1 for 20 bucks at academy, just the berkley one, works for what i need
I just put the spool of power pro on an unsharpened pencil and hold the pencil between my toes . Need more tension, Squeeze w/ my toes.
(look out for toe cramps)
I have one that clips on the rod. Had it for about 20 years. Little yeller plastic thingy you clip on the rod and put the spool on the gadget and it has a slip ring to push against the spool for more friction. Works great.

I do the same thing but I do mine on carpet so you can push into the carpet for more tension

before i moved out of my house, in my game room in a cabinet i had a nail that was about 2 1/2 inches long that i put the spool on and just took my time drinking beer and spooling had to go slow toward the end to keep from over spooling the line

That holds a spool?
It does hold a spool. Tghe right side w/ the c looking end clips to rod .And i think the round piece comes off you slip the spool on and slide the round piece back on against the spool for tension.
That is correct. The big C is for bigger rods and the lil C is for smaller rods.
That thing is over 20 years old.
