Here is some more. It has an electric anchor windless on the bow deck. No olympic anchor tosses on this one. The 4 deck storage compartments are huge(they can hold up to 5 each 5 gallon buckets), the double fish boxes in the front are huge, the anchor line storage is huge(can hold up to 800 ft. of anchor rode), the center console in huge.

Here are a few more. The stainless steel hardware is super thick and super shiny. Very hardcore fishing equipment. T-top is 2", 1.5" and 1" marine grade aluminum. It has the top of the line Raymarine electronics and a very nice music system, CD/Ipod/AM/FM/Serius. Fresh water tank under the helm seat.
Has both fresh water and raw water wash downs.

He needs a safety chain between the trailer and the boat and some transom straps to keep the boat on the trailer. I did notice that.
He also has a custom cover for it. Mounts from the T-top to the outside edge of the boat to keep birdsheet out.

In 20 more years...:D
He don't spent a buttload on what he gots.
I gave him 4 bottom fishing rods, 1 trolling rod, 8' aluminum rig hook and a 5' gaff that I had when I fished offshore. He just needs 4 good trolling rods and some lures/tackle and he will be ready to go.

They are custom built, only 2 of them sold in La. so far. Pretty solid built.
When you hit the side, it sounds solid. Not hollow.

The one I went on was not a calcutta but was a catamaran. Turning was kinda weird. The boat stays level and doesn't lean like a v bottom. Smooth ride in the rough water though

26' long, 8'6" wide. They are trying to get all the paperwork done so he can take her out Sat. in Grand Isle.

He bought it straight from the manufacturer. They don't do the paperwork for you like a dealer does. His wife is going to the Dept. of Revenue to pay the taxes, then she has to go to the DMV to title and register the trailer, then to the LDWF to title and register the boat.
We got all the paperwork together she needed yesterday, except for a notarized bill of sale. They only sent a purchase agreement with the boat.

What's the cockpit depth? looks like 16" - 18"

Ray
03-10-2010, 10:27 PM
It is higher up front and lower in the cockpit. It sits high in the water, but is good for inland also. It draws 12" of water.

Ray. Isn't Calcutta manufacturing out of state? No taxes bro!! When your wife goes to the I.R.S., they will tell her yea or no.....I got burned!!! I thought as long as it was over state lines I was OK, but I got it on consignment from a DEALERSHIP! Private sale, no tax. Dealership, tax. If he got it straight from the maker, sounds like private sale to me!!!

He bought it straight from the manufacturer.
They don't sell thru dealerships.
They sell straight to the buyers.
It was built in Fla.

Hi Ray,

Like Eric (Coral Head) above I've been looking at the Calcutta 263. I took a ride with Steve at the factory about a week ago and really liked it.

Would you also give me some feedback on what you and your brother-in-law like and dislike about the boat, and there is anything you would change?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Wally

There are 2 there. First stall is my brother in law. 2 or 3 stalls down is another one.
They run around low to mid 20's at cruise. Not sure what WOT is.

He works too much. Only off 1 weekend a month.
In June, he is taking off every weekend.
I'ma gonna spend some weekends over there too.
I like the offshore fishing over there. Gets deep fast.

At 9 gal/hr, that will be some very affordable snapper trips, even cheaper than mine!!!

Nice looking rig and of all the features, that fresh water tank is the bomb for offshore fishing! Here's a hint: pour a bottle of "Florida Water" in everytime he fills the tank. When you rinse off you will be clean and refreshed, as well as smelling good. Put on a fresh shirt and sleep like a baby on the ride in sitting on bean bags!

What the story behind the flat transom. I'd be worried about getting too much water in the back or having a kid wash out.

I think they just build this 26 footer and here's a few pics of Calcutta37's boat in Cocodrie. Its the 37 footer
