Doubt they are very good, Aluminum is only good for longevity not speed or handling. Know a guy that has one and he said there are so many problems with his that he would never buy another.

You "doubt they are very good"?

Have you been in one?

This boat is great: Minn Kota troll motor, Yamaha 4 stroke and Aluminum........:D

I think I just died and went to heaven!

It will never run with a comparable glass boat;) same length and power.
My knowledge is gleemed from owning one (extremmely rough ride) and speaking first hand to an owner of a 24' Gravois bayboat. Big difference between a 24' bayboat and a 114' motoryatch.

You owned a Gravois?

I have fished on a 23 Gravois a dozen weekends a year for the past 7 years.

The boat rides very good and is as fast as my Triton 240 LTS.

My buddy has had ZERO problems with the boat. NONE.

My father in law has a buddy that has a 24' Gravois and I have fished with them out of freshwater city several times........this boat will do what ever a 24' glass boat (ranger, skeetet, SeaPro, etc....) will do in a chop. It seems all of a sudden, saltwater fishing as become a need for speed thing.....

the reason people talk smack about aluminum is because they can't afford it. jdd how do you know alex?

Gravois boats are one of the finest alum. boats built.Hands down...They will be around longer than most fiberglass boats and will take more abuse.....

After 9/11, Gravois went to building gov't boats only. Gov't business must be slowing down.
They do make great boats. My brother in laws neighbor had a big 30something ft. offshore center console boat that fished out of Venice a bunch. It was a very nice boat.

I own a Gaudet's, and I can tell you that Aluminum can perform.
Alex was building push boats when I bought so I went Gaudet's.

Clint is my friend and one heck of a guy.

But back to the boat. She is 24 and half at transom with the gill bracket adding another two feet.

She is 9' 10" wide.

as for as ride......Raymond..........with all due respect........I totally disagree.

I have driven this boat from Deversion canal to Hard Rock and then to Perdido.
Never got wet, and the fellows all never spilt a drop of fire water.

Speed wise.......the 300 Zuke pushes her 47 carrying 110 gallons of fuel and three people with all fishing gear, and I mean ALL.......I know, not light speed.....but very comfortable.

She cruises at 35-36 turning 4200 getting right at 3 miles a gallon.

I can tell you her first trip out was to the west delta........with four grown men and our boys from 5 to 13 ......bait well full and enough fruit rollups to choke a mule for the boys......on the way in I passed a 24 Triton, he fell back into our wash......

The Triton handled the chop.....but they were getting soaked.

Just my experience.........and I'll admit I am biased.......but we in the Southern US are the ones stuck on glass and plastic.......the Aussie boys been fishing big water Alloy for years....and of course that mirror water in Alaska fishing deserves Alloy as well....

I have been in older Gravois and Breaux crafts that beat the hell out of you........

but that reverse chine boat has lift and rides really well.

Be Glad to take you out

but the boat in the original post has it's purpose like any other does

I was not trying to piss in anyones cherrios, if it were my $$ and for the kind of fishing I do, it is not for me. I know the Breaux's and Neuville's and they build great boats, all out of Aluminum. Jimmy also has built some great boats but you can't really call them Bayboats, they are more suited for close in fishing. 4500 # with motor is extremely heavy IMO but to each his own. I will admit, that they sure can take a lickin and keep on tickin.

no tinkle in my cheerios at all man.......

I still drool over them glass boats.....I just like the idea of tying up at the dock and not spending twenty minutes with bunkers to keep the scratches off.

70 in a bay boat!!!!!????!!! standing up......with no gas pedal???

and I was accused of being nuts with my Bullets and Allisons back in the day!!

I'll bet that's a blast though............LOL

DEAR RAYMOND,

I am not trying to get onto a pessing match here, I know that YELLOWFIN makes a very fine boat, and I do mean very fine, but it is a shallow draft type of boat. If you think you could follow this hull in the GOM with a Yellowfin, I would have to say your are grossly mistaken. I do realize that once you would get inshore the YELLOWFIN would be the speed king. Now here in LOUISIANA I couldn't imagine spend 85K on a boat to speed in the shallows. JMHO :D

P.S. I know you said you have a friend with an aluminum boat that is full of problems, even if that is true what does that have to do with this hull. Remember " CHEAP MEAT AIN'T GOOD, AND GOOD MEAT AIN'T CHEAP."

They are the only people that i know of that can build a 7000lb v-hull 20 degree deadrise boat that drafts "14 inches". Lol

You can direct them to whatever you want......

The boat is actually "made" by a guy in Prarieville.

Then Alex rigs them...........

And I can honestly say, his rigging is simple spectacular.
I am strongly considering begging him to rig the 'Simplepeddler" when we do an upgrade..........four years from now

Yup. I researched these boats a while back when I first saw one in grand isle. I actually talked to a captain down there that guides out of an American marine. Definitely a awesome boats but too far out of my price range. :(
