I got my new Saints BillyStix in on Saturday and now I need a new spinning reel to put on it. I just finished looking through them on Bass Pro just to kinda see what they had and came across a few I may like. I read some pretty good reviews on the Fin-Nor Sportfisher and the Daiwa Black Gold Series. I also looked at the Offshore Angler Inshore Extreme, Penn Captiva, Penn Spinfisher and Penn Sargus. I don't really wanna spend more than $100 on a reel but I can if need be. Let me know what you guys think.

I don't like the smaller Penn's......the offshore angler is bass pro brand, something goes wrong, you gotta drive or ship.......I'd go with the diawa......buy local at OCR, go by there and try it out first......I've always used shimano spinning reels, but that's just me........symetre 3000 is 100 bucks......there's my dollars worth....

Forgot......the best spinning reel I've ever owned is a shimano Sienna 2500......it was 25 bucks 6 years ago and still going strong......

Do yourself a favor and either go with Shimano or Okuma for spinning reels!

I don't buy Daiwa anymore. I used to use them but mine would not hold up. No luck with them.

My brother in law has/had a Daiwa Coastal which is a baitcaster.....talk about a P.O.S......It broke and he only used it once....

Anybody ever use or know anybody that uses a Fin-Nor? Just about every report I'm seeing says they're good reels.

Man I really like the Stradic, it's alot lighter than the others I've been looking at and it seems to be built alot better. Next question...should I bump up to the 6000 for the extra capacity and more drag or would the 5000 be good enough? The 5000 is 7 oz lighter than the 6000...

You can't go wrong with the Penn Captive CV25000. The Penn Spinnfisher SSm and SSg aren't really great for our type of inshore fishing, the 440SSg is great but the spool is just a little bit too small. I have not idea about the Penn Sargus.

But, honestly, everyone is right about Shimano and Okuma.

It's all about personal preference and confidence in your equipment.

What kinda fishing you doing needing a 5000 or 6000 reel? If its for inshore fishing all you need is a 3000 or the biggest a 4000. I use shimano stradic and would not use anything else.

What are you planning on using it for? All purpose? Cause those are some big reels... i use symetre 4000's and have caught some big reds on them with no problem. I wouldnt go with anything over the 4000 if you are gonna use it for trout and reds.

I have only bought one reel in my life and picked it up because it was the same name brand that my other reel was. This is the first reel I am buying that I'm actually looking into it before purchasing it.
