I hear ya. To each his own. I started fishing with them about 3-4 years ago and really like them. They are just more comfortable in my hand. Cork is just too hard to me. Never had a problem with handles being "slippery". IMO, I would think cork would be just as slippery as foam when covered in trout slime. But hey, what would I know. I just fish for gafftops and reds.

Good foam grip rod I used this weekend that would make a really nice corky/plastic rod for a good price. Waterloo Phantom It's $110 at Academy.

Never soaked a croaker on BL in my life. Tops and Corky's are all I fish. It's all good dude. Keep fishing your cork rods and I'll keep fishin foam. I'm not trying to argue with you.

@croakersoaker

I fish Eva grips, my opinion was toward the golf club grip you mentioned - see below.

Difference between you and me (aside from me not looking for a reason to cry) is that I have no problem admitting a $210 mistake, I feel no need to justify junk by recommending it to everyone just because it's a cool idea... Those handles are thicker than golf grips.

To the topic... I will be buying a new duce to try them out, sans golf grips.

specktator 06-18-2014 09:01 AM

Lol what a loser. Why not just keep your mouth shut. I LOVE my rod from OCR and the grips as well. And will be buying more of them in the near future. I'm pretty sure the guy that MADE this thread pumping Duce even has a few of them as well.
Thanks for trying to make me look stupid though. And whenever you wanna put some money on the line so I can beat the PISS out of you in a little trout tourney just let me know. I will make sure to fish EXCLUSIVELY with my golf club to make sure you have a good chance since it's such a POS.

Goooh 06-18-2014 09:17 AM

Lmao

Let's measure ******s

Ragin_Cajun 06-18-2014 09:20 AM

I wonder if they would put a FATSO grip on the rod like my putter in golf? :D

Maybe go with the full chord like the ole days...

YellowMouth7 06-18-2014 09:28 AM

Duce is under new mgmt not the same dudes, the original dudes still have a small share but my boy Cade runs the show now. Top knotch rods and service. They are some of the lightest and toughest rods that I have ever used......oh forgot to mention the sensitivity is crazy awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the new look is also very astheticly pleasing. I would recomend this rod to anyone looking for lightweight sensitivity and durability in one good looking package :-)

OnePunchRex 06-18-2014 09:32 AM

Good luck to the new guys at Deuce Rods. If I wasn't a Waterloo pro-staffer, I'd definitely try one. They sound a lot like the rods I use now.

I prefer cork also but own a few of both and i do not see how foam hinders performance of a rod in any way.

Btw that grip looks nothing like what I have. This one is half as thick as one in your video. It is a Tour Star split grip.

To be honest, and really not trying to be an a-hole here, is anyone really surprised that Duce went under in the first place? Seemed like they had alot of waste.

bayouchub 06-18-2014 10:24 AM

When are rod builders and companies going to learn to trim off the useless excess threads on the reelseats of rods with no foregrip? To me, it is hideous to tighten your reel down and have an inch or so of bare threads sticking out.

BuckingFastard 06-18-2014 10:24 AM

i kinda am surprised because the rod worked great and they were selling a lot. but at the same time if you dont run it right youll sink
