Thanks!

So far no one has suggested a single spincast reel. Only spinning reels. There is a difference.

Zebco 33 classic. It will be good for about 1 nice red.

Do we have to go through this again? I think everyone knows what he's looking for. Shimano Stratic and don't look back.

SaltyShaw 01-15-2011 11:04 AM

i bought a stradic and it has been at the reel repair shop for weeks, bought a sonora in the mean time and I LOVE that reel!!

I have a couple of the older stradics and a couple of the newer stradics with the composite spools. Pretty nice, all of them.

I know they're not the most popular reels but I just bought my 4th US Reel super caster and I love them. I got my first on about 4 years ago and I haven't had any problems out of them at all. I'd definitely check them out.

Anybody tried the new Shimano Caenan? Appears to be a good bang for the buck.

The old small Penn Spinfisher reels were JUNK.

The new Battle and Sargus reels are pretty good except they are made in China.

Don't think anyone has said it yet but, spincast reels are zebco 202,404,808's, ect. Think you might be asking about spinning reels but I could be wrong.

Bought a Mitchell Avocet II the other day at Bass Pro for $34.99. I had a gift card to burn. I saw good reviews about it on their site in both fresh and salt water. I'll try it and see how it takes the salt.
Anybody ever use this kind?

I have two 20 dollar quantum spinning reels that I let people use that fish with me. Can't beat it for the price and handles bull reds.

I bought 2 of these when I got into saltwater just to see if i enjoyed it. They are fine for a while but both of them the part between the reel and rod started to let the reel twist while bringing in a fish. still reel smooth but cant bring in a fish so i junked them. I think the plastic is cheap on them.

Montauk17 02-11-2011 02:55 PM

I have used mine for almost 2 years in sw....the newer ones that are red and black are not as good.

Shimano Sedona! Got some going on 8+ years! I think they are 60 bucks, the next reel up is a Shimano Sahara which is 10-15 dollars more, but not worth it. The Sedona is a great reel. We lost one in saltwater one day, because a white trout pulled it in, well 4hrs later we caught the pole back and the trout. That reel is still kicking and just as smooth as before
