I fish offshore out of Sabine Pass. Don't waste your time ScubaRu. The water is WAAAAY too shallow and muddy. We don't have any Red Snapper over here. Nothing but hard heads and redfish out to 60 miles. Oh, and my buddy even caught a flounder 70 miles from the Sabine Pass jetties summer before last. It was a little over 5 lbs.

Then why you keep asking me to go fishing with you out of Sabine????

It's almost cheaper to go with a guide by the time you go gas up, we went a few times out of grand isle by the time we gas up on fuel and beer the fish cost os like $25 a piece oh and them we had a blowout on the trailer on the way home and roadside service is expencive aslo.

I drag my boat to Grand Isle at least twice a year. It is more than 300 miles from my house, but the blue water is close. It is cheaper than hiring a guide though.

I think everywhere is pretty much loaded down with ARS right now, they are worse than trigger fish.

I was just kidding about Sabine Pass. We have some good fish here, but the water is shallow for a LONG way out. To put things into perspective, the place where my buddy caught the flounder 70 miles out was in 98' of water.

I'm looking at going to Grand Chenier and launch; however I need more information about the place before I drag my big tub over there. I think I might even have the range for Auger from there.

if you go to grand chenier lemme know i'll send you some info, it's about a 7 mile run from grand chenier park to the jettys, pretty safe except for a couple mud flats in the channel (run it the first time in the daylight and watch for the stakes), then another 30 miles to south oil city, another 10 miles to calcasieu rocks and steep rock (snapper/grouper holes), you then run into AJs and a lot more ling, and a lot better water at 50-60 miles in 272, 280 east cam blocks. you start seeing flying fish around that area usually.

They have some good rigs in vermillion blocks if you head southeast towards candy mountain, the little satellite platforms are the best for ling, even a big sunken jack up rig out there where we caught a sailfish on a whole pogie. you can see it laying on the bottom when the water is blue.

I used to be. Cost, lowering of limits, and not being able to put together a good crew at a moments notice for a window in the weather sent me back to the marsh. It sure was fun while it lasted thought.

i've gone once and im going this summer on a guided trip out of GI. If anybody has the equipment and an open spot i would pay part of the costs for a trip on their boat.
