Salty,

My neighbor has a Tundra with about 120K thousand miles on it and no problems - i.e. typical Toyota. Now his mileage is somewhere around 15mpg and that fits with everything I have ever read about them. Great trucks, but people equate better MPG with the yota's and that just isn't true. Your best bet for MPG will be the F-150 hands down.

I looked at trucks for months before I bought my Titan in '04 and then for months before I bought my F250 this year. You'll quickly find that the price differential between a Tacoma and a Tundra is next to nothing. I couldn't justify spending that much money for a smaller truck when for a few $K more I could get a full size with a V8. Also, I found that the yota's were more than F-150's and the response was always, it's a toyota...

Titan was a fantastic truck, but MPG was laughable. This time I needed something that could tow with no worries and get good MPG. The 250 gets 17mpg in the city and I have gotten 22 on the hwy. Towing I average about 17 on highway. Titan was about 11 towing the same loads.

The Tundra is a great truck, but would recommend at least looking at the new Fords. I have NEVER been a ford guy, but now I am sold.

That's true about the mileage, Micah. I currently drive an F-150 that hasn't given me any problems and I get a bit over 18mpg. I bought the Ford because I liked the body style....same reason I'm interested in the 'Yota.

I've had both an 07 tacoma prerunner and currently 07 tundra 5.7L. My tundra gets better mileage on average. I commute 65 miles a day and average 17.8 overall right now in the last 20 k miles which includes towing the boat and getting around town. Tacoma was nice and I moved it too but the tundra is the way to go. My only gripe is the thin paint so get a 3M clear bra applied if u are going to do a lot of interstate driving. Tundra drives smooth and has tight turning radius so its easy to maneuver in parking lots. About to turn 60 k miles and not a single issue so far.

I know the tacoma is a little over priced, but it keeps its value more than the tundra and i bought a ford and was shocked at how the value went down so much after two years. This is one question you might want to ask your self in 5 years when you want another truck how much will this one be worth if kept in good shape?
