Well, I didn't get to see much of it, but what I saw looked good.

I think the repair guy your talking about lives near the Vermillion River bridge a couple miles south of Milton. He rebuilt a Merc lower unit for me years ago for about half what other places were charging. No sign out front of his place, kind of a garage type operation. Have not seen any boats at his place lately not sure if he is still in bussiness.

Thanks Saint, I appreciate the reply.
BTW, my neighbor's friend uses that guy on Johnston street, behind Custom Gun works(if CGW is even still open). I've never had any experience with them. Prop Shop's done all my maintainence on my Optimax.

Sounds like you need a better mechanic, come see us at the prop shop we will treat you right. Did the motor sit up for 3 months or longer without being used?

CajunSaint 01-17-2011 10:21 AM

I can't prove it but I think someone put water and other things in the gas tank.

Trying to figure out what to do with 80 gallons of gas???

Montauk17 01-17-2011 10:26 AM

Are you using a fuel treatment for ethanol and a water separator filter? Keep in mind that the ethanol in todays gas will attract moister out of the air. Pay attention where you filled up at,I have pumped gas and got water straight out of the gas pump several times.

CajunSaint 01-17-2011 10:29 AM

Do you guys sell a water separator filter? We pumped out some fuel and noticed a lot of what looked like sand or dirt.

Montauk17 01-17-2011 10:31 AM

Yes we sell the basic kit for 35 bucks or so. Pump some gas out the tank and put it in a clear bottle and look for water....if there is water keep pumping untill there is no more water.

CajunSaint 01-17-2011 01:55 PM

Do you know when y'all will have some more?

Montauk17 01-17-2011 01:57 PM

Should have some in by wednesday, just give us a call. 235-5761

CajunSaint 01-17-2011 02:00 PM

Thanks will do.

RonnieF 01-18-2011 03:59 AM

Saint, ethanol has been known to eat up the inside of fuel lines that aren't ethanol resistant. But since you are getting crap outta your tank, then it's probably not the culprit.

Ronnie

CajunSaint 01-18-2011 08:04 AM

Thanks Ronnie!
Could that be what's coming out of the lines?
