Years ago I set in on a meeting when the PAA (Professional Anglers Association) was forming its by laws; the proposed definition of "Pro" at that time was defined as someone who derives 51% or more of their annual income from tournament fishing or tournament fishing related activities such as sponsorship endorsement, personal appearances etc.

"W" good luck with the qualifier theres going to be some really good pros and anglers fishing it.

What constitute a pro fisherman? That's the million dollar question! Some say its having sponsors or say its a fancy jersey. I really don't know and interested in hearing opinions.

I'll keep my amateur status and when I actually do come out on top it will be even more satisfying. That's just me, I like to fish and I like to compete.

yea roger that......I dont care what their names are,how long they been fishing or if Obama sponsors them..... I will fish against anyone.... If you look at the HT Series right now...They are maybe 3 or 4 anglers you can call Pro!!! And none as popular as KVD..... Charlie Thompson is probably the most well know.... But if Cajun Phil was fishing this year...He would have that honor...

If we qualify for the HT...We will have some work...$10,000 per season is a lot of money to ask a Sponsor(S) for. Capable to fish this series is not a question in my book.

$10,000 per man to fish the HT CUP series?

evis102 05-07-2011 04:44 PM

Also I'm not trying to bash you W but you are in no way ready for that level of fishing. Fish the XRT, LSWS and IFA redfish tournaments a few years then try to step up. The rules for the HT CUP are also very hard on information sharing. Pretty much its on you and your partner to prefish and get on them. If you talk redfish with anyone other than your partner a week before the tournament you have to DQ yourself.

10,000 Per Team Per year

...Not ready??????? Lets see....Josh J and I have total 40 years of saltwater knowledge......... I did not give Jsmoke and his partner a chance in hell to compete...... They are in top 10 both events..(And both started Saltwater fiishing less than 6 years ago and Competing in Redfish events only 2 years exp) Nick and Lee??? Both have no prior red fish tournament experience outside of Big Lake????

And where and how do you know if Im ready???? R U for real?? You might not be ready or capable but if you look at the class right now Im well ready for this series.....

If we make the cut in Oct.....We should have no problem locking in our sponsors and instead of me chasing trout on days off...Josh and I will be pre fishing in areas of event

Who won

evis102 05-07-2011 06:15 PM

Like I said I'm not trying to bash you I just think need a solid foundation to step up to that level.

Pole_benda 05-07-2011 06:35 PM

I heard Steckler and Lloyd won, followed by Charlie, then Rue.

10k is just too rich for my blood and I just can't commit the time necessary that I would like to fully compete. Season just two tourneys in and two of the harder ones coming up. Texas and Florida. Florida will be no joke with extreme tides I guarantee a few boats getting hung up and sleeping on the flats for a few hours! Florida fish don't eat as easily as Louisiana and Texas fish.

Florida is the hardest of all to fish reds.....You have to use 100% flourcarbon line and stalked reds in crystal clear water! Everyone who I spoke to that has fished reds in Florida says its a challenge from hell...

I dont think Half the field will catch 2 reds day 1 and day 2

TTF FISHING 05-07-2011 06:48 PM

Winners.... Steckler/Lloyd

2nd Place... Thomason/Pescay

Pole_benda 05-07-2011 06:49 PM

"W" you're preaching to the choir. I learned how to redfish in Florida. Yes you need flourocarbon leader and you need to know how to make long presentations and not Spook fish off. My money is on Mark Sepe and other FL team Paul Chavis for the FL events. Sepe is a 2 time team of the year for the redfish cup and his home waters.

10

"W" 05-07-2011 07:15 PM

All day 3 teams get a check.... 10th gets 2500

Ray 05-08-2011 07:32 PM

Me and my friend presented the big checks to the #1 and #2 teams at the final weigh in.

Top 10 teams all got checks. I think #6 thru #10 got $2500. Then they got bigger from there.

The Academy chick Whitney was HOT!!!

Ray 05-08-2011 07:34 PM

I also made Pat Malone **** his pants, twice.
