I'd spray the yard Heavy with Martins Premetherin, Like 3 or 4 ounces to the gallon, they may decide they don't like the taste of it, it will also kill any bugs in your yard which may or may not be the food source of these things.

Somethings different this year......I just found a hole that a baseball could fit in.......wonder if they are nesting together now??? Can't find any other holes at all.......this worrys me.......

FF_T_Warren 07-13-2010 08:13 PM

Will they sting people?

Dink 07-13-2010 08:16 PM

Supposedly not unless "molested"(quote from website, not me)

FF_T_Warren 07-13-2010 08:20 PM

Well if your molesting hornets you deserve to get stung. And in that case, getting stung is the least of your problems

Viper

There's an insecticide called viper that works really well, you should be able to find it at a feed store.Mix it 1oz. per gallon of water and spray it all over the area with a pump sprayer.

dink u have to pour ammonia down each hole to kill the wasp and the eggs that they are laying. once the baby is born it will come back to that exact spot every year till they die to lay more eggs. so you can mark each hole with a plastic knife then at midnight pour the mixture of ammonia and water down each hole the mother and her eggs will die. I sell mosquito systems and can get any thing u want but think the ammonia and water mixture works well and is cheap go get like 5 gallons and mix a cup of it and a cup of water.

He is an avid fisherman and duck hunter as well.

Montauk......Don't know how true this is, but my Dad says cedar will detour wood bee's. He says to take pieces of cedar limbs stick where the woods bees are & they'll leave. He has them between the tin & rafters on our porch at the camp.

Duck Butter 07-14-2010 07:53 AM

They is absolutely harmless, just look mean as hell and will follow you from time to time. They strictly hunt cicadas. I used to be scared of em to, but did a little research, people pick em up with their hands. Even a website like cicada killer thriller or some crap! Give em hell though

whunter29 07-14-2010 08:04 AM

Dink call Billy the exterminator he did a show about killing those things a while back.

Thats interesting, thanks. My problem is exactly that, they are eating up my rafters on my patio cover. There everywhere, eating up the wood so much there is saw dust everywhere.
