I worked with a guy that told me you can take a post hole digger and dig a hole 2-3ft down then mix corn and dirt filling hole back and then leave some corn on top, when they start eatin it they will stay close by since they will have to work down and dig the hole out

My buddy has decided that he is going to do the trap method. They don't live on the farm and usually only go up on weekends .
He is worried that as hot as it is that a hog getting in the trap on monday won't survive till sat??? How many days do y'all think that he can wait between checking the trap ? or,should he just wait till it starts cooling off to set trap(s)?
He dosn't hunt the property so he can trap anytime.

From what I have read....... when the temperature is hot [90+ ?] a hog will die by the next day. I don't know if putting in a water bucket would help keep it alive.

A shady spot might help some.

If it is a big trap a children's plastic swimming pool is good. Try to build your pen around a stand of trees so they also get shade. This would be for a pen maybe 20-30' in diameter. Google figure 6 hog trap and you can find some designs.

Get Night Vision! I have one on my .22. They arent all that expensive either, same price as a regular scope.

it would have to be in the shade for sure,a five gallon bucket of water wont work b/c when that door slams shut they're gonna go ape sh**! They wont survive without water for that long

Summer time the trap has to be checked daily, even then In have seen hogs die before we got to the trap, we cleared the trap around lunch time on one day and went back to the trap around 2pm the next and there was only one hog in it and it was dead.
