I have seen this in pecan island at the first weir out of roll-over. Awesome sight to see for sure. They will bite anything that is in front of them.

I've been on schools of redfish like this for the tournaments, but never that many. More like 20-30. It's an awesome sight, and anything you throw at them will get smashed.
