Sold it to meaux fishing. 2 other buddies have em and love em. Just picky when it comes to my call. Asterisk-Rich has a daisy cutter and it seems like he gave up duck hunting to live in NYC. Maybe shoot him a PM and see if he might be interested in selling it to u.

i annoy the crap outta my neighbors with that loud single reed. The neighbors dog starts going crazy and she yells in spanish and beats on the wall.

No one gave up duck hunting. I'll be back in a few days to teach you and lil mookie how to catch some trout and prepare you guys for all that fantasy beat downs that yall are about to receive from "Doctor Dic kins"

i guide 59 days a year in a freshwater marsh south of lake arthur. i blow a $40 call and killed 389 mallards last year. It's more knowing when to call than sounding exactly like a duck and $140 call will not help you kill more birds. In Louisiana we kill mostly grays, teal, wigeon, and pintails, so a whistle is better most of the time anyway

its not necessarily about that. Some people just like nice things.

Any haydels mallard call or a primos wench sounds as much like a duck as anything else. Single reed competition calls won't work any better, no matter the price

I also have the Haydels 'red leg' which is easy to blow.

Lake Chuck Duck 08-03-2011 07:23 PM

I sat in on the call competition at the expo and not to toot my own horn, but probably could have placed with my primos shaved reed speck. I didn't find the other calls to be anything special, at least sound wise. Blowing it might be a different story.

389 mallards  not too shabby. not that the call matters, but whats your $40 ringer??

And yes really a good grey duck imitation with a mallard call and a whistle is all we need here anyway...Its just so bad a.. when you turn them suckers with the ol quacker

Later in the year all I mostly blow is that 'high roller' call that Primos makes. Well worth the 15 bucks.

U boys out there in the Lake Chuck should be blowing those old school "Cajun" duck calls. My buddy has a few of them he got when his grandpa passed away and I love em. Any of u LC guys know where I can find one? The sticker on the one he has says they were made in LC.

Those are Faulk duck calls. Don't know if they still make them or not.

The last 2 years I guided, I used a Yentzen and it worked very well. I will NOT spend more than $40 on a duck call. Sorry. Dad and Dudley were cousins and when I was young got most of them free.

Hopedale Hustler 08-03-2011 10:09 PM

Yentzen is a great call to use for greys it sounds legit to me...I have one but never use it...

noodle creek 08-03-2011 10:11 PM
