here is the latest, he did panic, he thought it just didn't look right going back where the compass was telling him. wild life guys are here along with sheriff dept boats. we are texting with him. they can see him on night vision now, trying to get him out, area he got himself into is too shallow for their boats. Wildlife guy found out we were from south louisiana, he told me when he launched his boat, you best have some gumbo for me tomorrow night ! ha,

Harley123 12-19-2011 09:45 PM

any updates

biglaketiger 12-19-2011 09:47 PM

besides him still being lost i can't wait till the morning, man we saw some birds just here at the camp ground. I wonder if he is going to want to hunt, he should know the area pretty good now,

biglaketiger 12-19-2011 09:53 PM

you know he actually did, we were **** chatting while he was waiting on his boat and he told me a lot, said since we were dealing with all this he would help us out, but heck david, just from what i've seen at the camp ground, i think we will do fine, i got 10 miles of flagging tape coming with us tomorrow!

If he has a smart phone, tell him to download boatus app. It is like a Spot for your phone. It will send your name along with lat and lon to who ever you program it to go to.

There are some areas up in that part of the state that a compass will just spin in circles. Urchin, I know of 1 spot north of Vinton that a compass will just spin.

It is a very bad feeling when you get lost, it happened to me in a national forest blood trailing a deer and got turned around, found a creek and followed it out, now i always have flagging tape with me. glad they know where he is though!

biglaketiger 12-19-2011 11:39 PM

He is back and all is good now. sheriffs and game wardens were awesome, lots of guys came out here to help in the cold. Cost of rescue mission a gumbo tomorrow night, that's it...and we got a ton of info on some local honey holes, guess it was a blessing in disguise, them fellows said we going home with some mallards!

SULPHITE 12-19-2011 11:52 PM

Wow play by play!! glad your bud is okay! Smoke them greenies and make sure those guys get a good south la gumbo!

biglaketiger 12-20-2011 05:49 AM

Watching it rain while inside drinking coffee! I ain't that mad at em! Looks like it is going to rain off and on all day, good luck. Next week ought to be curtains for the big ducks. River is rising and starting to get into the woods
