People that are begging for money are looking for and need change. A life of addiction is a short lived one, either in death or Jail. If you are Christian, show them the unconditional love of Jesus. Who knows, in the future that person might come to the Lord. At least they will know it in his name.

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2

On a side note. A guy came up to me at work the other day. He asked if I could give him $7 bucks for a bed from the Salvation army. I told him I would go to Salvation army to buy a bed for him.....Just that I would go after lunch and to meet me there in about 30 minutes. He got all mad and said don't do me like that. Don't tell me you are going to be there and not go. I told him to trust me. Well, I showed up at Salvation army, but he didn't. I called his bluff, the cheapest bed at Salvation army was $79.

DING DING DING!! WE HAVE A WINNER!! Try to live by the golden rule daily. Never know , the one you help might actually listen someday and change their ways.

I give.....period.............. giving defines me.
What they do with what I give defines them.
I refuse to let anyone define where my heart stands.

I will get paid back.........it's just how I live and how I believe.

Well, if you have ever been to Houston...the corner of Westheimer and 610 loop, there is a black man that declares that he is the "real Spiderman" asking for money. I give because he makes me laugh!

"$10 if I could kick them in the nuts." I laughed out loud :rotfl:...

I give when things seem on the up and up, which isnt often...

X2 I would hate to think I turned down somebody who actually needed help because they had a run of bad luck and no fault of there own.but I am a true believer in what goes around comes around.about three years ago I was in McDonalds and had a guy approach me sayin he was hungry and needed food so I gave him like three dollars. Well afterwards he left.... So my gf tells me "you knkw hes going to buy drugs". I told her im telling myself hes going to taco bell because he doesnt like McDonalds lol. Well a month later to the date I was back in McDonalds and as soon as I walk in a gentlemen approaches me says hey, I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch but he cant make it. I have a deluxe breakfast with an extra hashbrown if you would like it. I meediately thought about giving that other guy $3 and now im enjoying a free $7 breakfast. The lord works in mysterious ways.plus I dont mind giving a dollar here and there to make me feel good about myself. I give it away to hopefully make a difference or to help someone but in return that makes me feel good. Just ticks me off when my free money isnt good enougj

I am extrodinarily blessed, way beyond what I derserve or have worked for.

There is no doubt that I am here but by God's grace. I am too damn stupid and opinionated to be anything else.

Many time........I have rolled up to an exit and handed a person a twenty.
When life has been very good, a "c" note is not out the question.

Point is not to brag, it's to point out that the ability to give comes from giving.........

This is a big deal to me.
My dad has done more for more people than one could possibly imagine, really 10's of thousand of bucks, I am convicted that is why is business is 52 years old, and arguably one of the best in this area, if not the state.

You just cannot our give the grace that our Father places on us.

not judging anyone that sees it different......I just know what works for me.

We share the same beliefs . You just never know when that ONE is the ONE test you are given .

Never hate anyone. Ya just don't know. Put them in the position to better themselves and let them make the determination as to what to do with it.

Really, in my eyes, it goes back to an old saying. "Give a man a fish and, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and, he'll eat for a lifetime."

A few years back I left the house heading to the deer lease in Winfield. I had been working all day in the yard and did not bother to take a shower before I left because I wanted to make an afternoon hunt. Anyway I left the house in a hurry and managed to forget my wallet on the bar and I did not discover this till I made it to bunkie (3 hours, from the house) when I stopped for gas. Well I hated to do it but I had to do it but did not have a choice but to ask for gas money for the truck. After an hour of being told to go get screwed some one offered to fill up my truck so I could make it back to the house. I made sure to get the mans address and when I got home I sent him 4 times the cost it was to fill up my truck To this day if I run into someone asking for gas money I offer to put what they need in the tank. Problem is I was only taken up on the offer once.

i always give when i can...and what they do with the money is there choice but i leave there knowing I tried. I could care less what they use it for but like to think the ones I give to use it appropriately. When i lived in Galveston the bums were everywhere and this built a tolerance level in me and i woulda been broke in a week had i handed over change to every bum.
Just the other day on the corner of highway 14 exit ramp had a fella with a sign that said hungry and need food....nothing about money etc. I had a few cans of vienna sausage in my truck from a previous fishing trip and asked if that would suit him...his reply was...."HELL Yeah man....I'm freaking hungry" and smiled when i handed him over the food. I was actually impressed!

I do the same, have given many a bottled water or burger to someone who honestly needed it. However, if I'm in a bad part of town and see someone with meth mouth asking for money, I tell them I don't have any. Seen too many people at gas stations take that money and walk a couple houses over.

swamp snorkler 06-20-2012 09:35 AM

If you give someone $20 and never see them again that's a good thing.

I agree with you fully. I give until it hurts and always seem to bloom like a rose in the end. Read MATHEW 25:31-45 and you will see how this situation applies.
