I hunt in a field near Sweetlake and my teal hunting got progressively better towards the end of the season. The last weekend was the best for me by far. I'm curious to see if the same trend continues or if that was just an anomoly.

Had teal all last season in Thornwell area.

From my experience marsh hunting gets better later in the teal season. But last year it was good all year in some places. Rice fields tend to get shot out quick.

the fields dont get shot out, you just have to adjust your hunting times. I promise they still go there it just may not be at first light

Top Dawg 09-05-2012 09:10 AM

The fields I have hunted you could sit from daylight til dark and not fire a shot after the first week. Guess it just depends how close your field is to marsh

DUCKGOGETTER 09-05-2012 09:42 AM

I know last year at our marsh we were full of widgeon grass and you couldn't chase them suckers out of there. After we would kill limits they would still be coming in flock after flock. Our marsh looks even better than it did last year so it should be a teal wacking out there. I can't wait!!!!!!!

Father-n-law called me and told me he saw a big wad flying over our marsh a little while ago.

If never hunted a ricefield in the last 4yrs that you could shoot em out and with the SE marshes salty and screwed up and everyone else droughted we oughta wack n stack until our shoulder ate blue n black.. Lol it's gonna be one for the ages.. Mark my words

Teal that is. Big ducks still has a few variables IMO

Seen a flock of about 20 flying over some 2nd crop rice on my way home in Holmwood.

Just drove thru Pine Island and there was a field right next to the road that had at least 3 thousand teal in it. I have pictures and will show em tomorrow. most I have ever seen in one place, many other fields along the way there to Jennings had em also
