Is this the farmers market your referring to? When is it? Any more info on this?

Isn't it on hwy14 between Abbeville and Erath. Right across from the airport. That's where I get mine.

There is a farmers market in abbeville one Saturday a month

geoleo 01-18-2013 01:08 PM

another reason the crawfisherman does not like to sell to the pubic/friends
1) after the sell, the person buying the crawfish drives by maxie-mart in abbeville, the sign reads (live crawfish $1.50 per lb.) the friend tells the person/crawfisherman about how he got ripped off paying $2.25 per pound, and maxie-mart has them for $1.50.
2) the buyer never complains after the sell!
3) some orders from public/friends fall through, leaving the crawfisherman waiting and possible spoiled crawfish!
I hope that I shed some light on Why crawfisherman sell to one buyer!

I'd like to find a farmer selling crawfish. I buy on average 1200 - 1500 lbs for a crawfish boil for my church each year ( one time boil ). I like large and medium crawfish so that they don't run out fast for the number of people I cook for. If anyone knows or if your a farmer, pm me. I normally do the boil right after Easter Sunday. Thanks, Danny

Just pay the going price like everyone else does. People always complain about crawfish prices. If crawfish are $3 a pound people cry about it. 5 pounds cost $15 and it is a big deal, but Outback charges $15 for a crap sirloin and its a great deal.
Prices are no longer and will never be .40 a pound again.

Yes, the price of crawfish will be lower this year. Supply and demand. The last few years there were just enough crawfish to keep the price higher longer. This year there is going to be a ton of crawfish available, catches are already very high, and last week the buyers did not buy Friday and Saturday.

This year is going to be a crawfish eaters year!

Just wait, mid year to end of year, crawfish farmers will be looking to "make a deal". :)

I think so as well. I kno some of the guys in Crowley said this was gonna be one of the best years they've ever seen for crawfish.
