Just all depends on what YOU want to catch and how deep the water is. Figure out the depth you will be fishing, then just buy tackle accordingly. You'll normally catch trout in depths up to 35'. After that, depending on water temps and time of year, some snapper may be in 40' and deeper.

I believe the law says you must use circle hooks and they cant be stainless steel.
I use 60# line with 3-4' of flourocarbon leader. Those snapper have excellent eyesight.

Also, bring plenty of cut bait to chum with.

Also bring plenty of tackle. You will get broke off many times when the fish run into the rig.

You will need some heavy weights because the current can really rip out there and it makes it tough to get your bait down.
