if you catch a upper 6lb trout for the shoot out this year you will be top 5

before 06 you would not be in top 10

Wishful thinking maybe, would like to think maybe everything is getting back to normal after 2 major storms. Rita hitting in sept 2005(last good big trout year), and then Ike 3years late in Sept. Now 4yrs later maybe things can get back to normal??

I tied for first once but lost tie breaker and ended up in second. Fish was over 8 after the live weight bonus. The following year I ended up in 6th because my fish died. Otherwise I would have gotten another second

Yep, the amount of fish taken out the lake has probably not changed much since the limit changed from 25-15 or at least not enough to be statistically significant. The fish that anglers catch is a drop in the bucket to what Mother Nature does:)
That being said, there still wasn't any biological reason why the limits were dropped. Don't want to get that stirred up again though:rotfl:

Big trout were being caught after rita and Ike? That was blooming? So, the limit got lowered in 06 and in that single year the big trout stopped??? Not trying to start a argument with the village idiot... Just hoping that things are improving.. Which I think they will..

Big Kahunaz 04-09-2013 02:39 PM

Lol! Why does a good thread always get warped into a 25 or bust theory?

"Come Onnn Cletus!¡!"

Gill net bound, coming soon! WHERE R THE BIG TROUT;)

Top Dawg 04-09-2013 02:50 PM

I surely hope the lake is coming back.

Jadams 04-09-2013 02:52 PM

Look at the amount of people fishing trout shoot out now and all the idiots burning the bank a big trout won't eat right after u burn bank. Trout shoot out sat u can walk boat to boat most of the big weights from shoot out come off beach r rigs bc less pressure

Top Dawg 04-09-2013 02:58 PM

LOTS more people on the lake now in general. And I do believe that may have something to do with the decline in big trout being caught. Jmo of course.

Bingo. Bank burners drive me crazy. Rubies to good trips so far this year for me. Why would anyone run between a boat and the bank when I'm a cast or 2 away from the bank. Headed to the weirs that's y.

Jadams 04-09-2013 03:29 PM

I know of 5 trout over 9 this yr

Jadams 04-09-2013 03:30 PM

The weights of fish is up right now compared to last spring

Jadams 04-09-2013 03:32 PM

Guy Stansel been on the lake catching big fish 50yrs plus and believes its a cycle. It'll get back right for a few yrs then fall off again and then get back good. I also agree w him

X3 if you look at cocodrie they been catching good fish for the last 2years limits of 3-5s. Not to many 7-8s. But you know what I'm saying. It didn't use to be that way but now it is. I'm sure it happens like that all down the coast. But I'm dumb and don't know anything.
