COOL DEAL!! My neighbor is the evil kineivel of fishing he seems to be on different types of fish every week after week. And if I follow his lead I always end up with a scratch. lol

He's good and has turned me on to some excellent fresh water fishing but his knack for red fishing is second to none. We picked up 6 from 5:45 till dark. We missed some good bites. Nothing big 21" was biggest but there's some fish back there.

Vermillion Bay

I went yesterday and it was like fishing in chocolate milk. We then headed offshore for cobia. We could not get clean water until past the 70' depth. No cobia, way too rough. Lots of jack cravelles though (not what we were jigging for). Good luck.

I have only been to the bay once from ICY. I have a small 18' boat. Is Redfish point the place I should try first? Or with the 10 knot winds is the backside of Marsh Island a doable ride for me?

Quackhead62 05-17-2014 05:44 PM

I usually fish around redfish point and hog bayou and lake fearman just have to watch the winds. I'll be out of ICY in the am in my 17 foot prodrive

I scratched big time. Missed 1 red at boat 2 sharks and a croaker. Fished 12-6:30 I know a few people that fished today and only a few caught it sounded like it was a tough bite for all

Looking at the chart it was high tide all day,no fall. Makes for tough fishing most of the time.

I went to grand isle instead. Caught 44 trout and one red , weather was beautiful, light chop on the bay side. Caught the fish at 4 bayous around the camp with the crab trap reef.

Quackhead62 05-18-2014 11:51 AM
