It's almost not worth it though. As expensive as the wade permit is.
Word is you will have to take a 8 hr course next year.

It ain't easy going under and holding your breath until the warden's are gone, better than paying that fine though

I tried wade fishing one time, farted in my waders and started floating out with the tide. Decided it was better to stay in the boat after that.

Like a lot of you guys, I do both. Just started wading this year and still a little bit spastic when I catch a fish. Boga, net, stringer, rod, tackle, lots of stuff to navigate. Trying different combinations and learning that less is more, when it comes to gear. I must stay that I see the stealth aspect as being a large component of why this technique produces. Especially on a windy day. It also adds another option to try and get away from the crowds and enjoy a little solitude. I like finding a few fish and picking at them all day. Wading is good for that. My buddies tease me. "Jumping out of a new boat" is a common one. It's fun. I like it.

I've literally caught trout 10 ft from my boat (granted, not trophy trout). Are the big gals that spooked by a boat?

It's fishing. Sometimes they don't care at all you can catch them next to a running outboard. Sometimes they spook if you fart. If you wanna increase you odds it helps to be stealthy

Don't eat Mexican food the night before a wading trip, the noise scares all the fish away!
