When males are young they have the barest hint of red on their throats.

Theres a show on natgeo wild right now all about hummingbirds pretty good info....

Had 1 or 2 hummers today...............
Then at 7 PM, 6 hummers swarmed the feeder until it got dark. Feeder was getting low, so I filled it after dark. |
I mix 1 pint of sugar with 4 pints of hot tap water in a gallon jug and shake it up good. The sugar dissolves, and I keep it in the house for quick refills. I learned though to squiggle all over the jug with a marks alot if ya gonna leave it in the house. It surprised Peg one night when on the way back from the bathroom on a middle of the night potty run she decided to stop by the kitchen and just get a swallow from the water jug.

They land on the hanger that hold the feeder and crap on the top.. Wouldn't you think they'd crap sugar cubes with all the sugar water they drink?!?
