One of those tourneys has already changed its rules for next year to Mississippi residents only

Well that kills the old adage of "if your SCARED, say your SCARED", because they just publicly said they're scared. Can't use that one............Guess you could consider it the ultimate compliment though. Really can't believe the 5 fish BS.............

that's pretty unsporting and an obvious attempt to create a reason to DQ him.

in all my years watching tournaments the limit is not required to be filled, you just have a max limit allowed and if you just have one or two or three fish, you still get credited and compete with what you have.

the guy is worried about saving the tourney, I think after all this public admission its being "rigged" for locals only, then let them try to have a tourney with just 50 local guys only and see how fast the tourney goes broke

This post is ironically hilarious.

Has anyone thought about starting a big tournament down here for Louisiana and Texas fishermen? Just curious.

And what they did complete chicken crap. I read the write up yesterday and it pissed me off and I have only tried to fish next to JAdams of course i didn't catch (whats new) LOL just messing. But I do't understand how rules can just be changed post tournament. Take the hit this year make the rules for next year its simple. Don't just change it.

evis102 05-19-2016 08:54 AM

If you #1 had an open tournament out of Lake Charles that anyone could fish #2 allowed live bait #3 had a $10,000 payout. People from south Texas would be taking home the money pretty much every time.

speck-addict 05-19-2016 09:10 AM

Okay what about no live bait state wide tourney?
I'm just spit balling hear but with the launches we have the area to fish across the state, I don't see why we haven't had a tournament pop up yet.

speck-addict 05-19-2016 09:13 AM

I have fished offshore tournaments and to me have the same set up Shotgun start on a Friday or Saturday the weigh in are Sunday from 12-2 awards after you would get a full day of fishing and you could fish at night. I have never fished a trout tournament other then one when i was 12 in Vermillion Bay but to me logically speaking that would be the way to go.

evis102 05-19-2016 09:20 AM

It is very hard to get the turnout for tournaments in Louisiana that do not allow live bait. Heck the CCA Shootout didn't even have enough entries for a full payout last year.

My comments weren't even rude. Just told them to change their name and the operation was a joke.

Once you take the live bait aspect out of it your not going to see 35-37lb 5 trout stringers very often

I only seen 1 time where a 5 trout stringer was caught over 30lbs on artificial

It was Bruce Baugh , Steve Nelson and one other guy who had a beast of Stringer for the east vs West event

everything said is true, but they can do with their tournament anything they want. I can understand the organizer changing it to keep his local anglers, but like Jared said, don't call it the World Championship! Call it the Gulfport Regional Fishing Tournament and you fish in it locally if you want to. He really doesn't care who wins, he gave kudos to Jared, but he needs his local fisherman to keep it alive.
Just don't change it 4 days in advance.

I would wager the shootout didn't have enough entries is because it is put on by CCA. I know I have fished that tourney for 15 or more years until I got my fill of CCA. They'll never get another dime outta me.
