If it is in the summer I would try to make it. I don't mind driving to fish,
I will have added 1600+ miles to the truck by time I get home from fishing the tourney.

G.I. would be a great place to have a tourney.
May /June would be tops. Been fishin down there most of my life.
Only thing about doing a late spring / summer tourney there would be that we probably won't be able to get one of the major marinas for a weigh in site as they have tourneys pretty much every weekend .
But i'm sure i can find us someplace .
that time of year will be great for , yakkers , boaters and waders.
If we get serious about doing a grand isle bungle i will be happy to help w/ contacts and sites and anything else needed.

Sounds like your the man we need ;)

We are definitely planning to make the Big Lake tourney an annual event and as soon as we have had a few days to take a breather we'll put something together to talk with Shad, W, Speckdaddy, and Fool about next year's event. We had 57 boats and this thing will do nothing but grow.
Shad talked about having an event on the East side as well and we think that Cocodrie might be the better bet as there are a few more options with regards to places to stay - confined, but not nearly as much as GI.
I also threw out a Border Wars tourney to be held on Sabine as a TX/LA event.
We'll figure something out, but Shad/W definitely need to be involved in any future event planning.

More places to stay... Yes. But everybody in Cocodrie runs out towards the gulf during the summer. Also not many places for yaks to fish around there for trout at least, and waders would be out the picture also just a couple things to consider.....

The only problem with having a tourney in the east is the winning weight would be more than the 9 something that was had last weekend. Then all of the west wussies would cry because then it would be a proven fact that the east is better. :)

I claim neither east or west so im not biased but the winning weight was like 14.03 or something...thats pretty solid with those conditions where ever you are
