U support Waterloo like they put food on Ur table, like they cut u a chk and said" please support us when people make fun of our redicilously overpriced rods. Tell them we have the best rod on earth. And they we have great customer service. And that if they buy a Waterloo their chance of catching a 10lb trout increases by 50%, and that everyone will think they make $100,000 + every year and can afford to pee pee money away on our rods."

Maybe this went over Ur head.... Which ain't hard. But were talking about castaway skeleton. That is not sold n academy.
I know the rod racks are high in academy so u may not have noticed the names on the rods.

And we all u that everything u say is" a fact that u personally know" and that " academy sends u monthly reports of what rods are returned"

They do not sell Castaway Skeletons at Academy they only
sell Castaways lower line stuff. The list is getting bigger

Nope...they don't pay me one dime....just fished with lots of rods over the years and Waterloo has out performed them all..... I own 10 of them....just picked a new one up in Houston at the fishing show he made me...... The Hp Slam is a 300 rod but I know for fact that blank is over 200 alone...then add the guides and handle...your not making much on that rod

If the rod costs that much to built and they are only making a small profit.... that's a horrible business!!! They will b lucky to b n business 5 years from now.
A business of any sort has to make a profit.
And if u really think that a blank cost 200$ Ur iq is smaller then Ur shoe size.
They may sell u the blank for 200$ but they damn sure ain't paid 200$ when WaterPOO bought it.

Let's have a fish off....waterloo vs Castaway Skeleton...... But them to the test!!!! On redfish...you have to sling all of them in the boat...no grabings...just sling what you catch...if it breaks grab another one,,,, this will show performance

Since your knowledge is limited, I will tell you that Waterloo uses Batson blanks
use your great computer skills an check it out. If the blank is 200 plus reel seat, grip,
guides, labor they lose $8 a rod.

Wow!!
W where did u find out that the blank is 200$??
waterPOO is running their company into the ground, sounds like u have chosen a winner.
Since Ur so good with finances maybe waterpoo can upgrade u from customer relations and community liaison to CFO.

y would you ever want to sling redfish in the boat with any high end rod? that in no way shows rod performance. it will show rod durability however. I have a few waterloo rods and i like them very much but the are not my favorite. They are built on batson blanks in the 40 to 60 dollar price range although they would probably never tell you or anyone else that. I found out the hard way with comparisions on a rod wrack if you know what that is.

because the blank is 40 to 60 dollars in no way means that it is a cheap rod. the manufacturer has to make money somewhere the complete rod price is high because of their good warranty which in most cases is 50 dollar replacement or if found to be a faulty blank free.

They make several types.of rods and the new Hp Slam is a new blank that just came out the last few months....and I promise you they are not using a 60 blank on a HP slam Mag.... The Hp Lights Blank coast about 60 or so..... But the Mag Blanks are closer to 200 than 100

so what is their retail price for this "new" hp slam mag?

the new blanks with the 3m resin from north fork composites are only 120 and they are the highest line blanks out right now they are used on the kistler zbone.
for waterloo to sell a rod built on a 200 dollar blank the price would have to be upwards of 400 dollars. if any less and they warranty it once they lose money think about it.

Dude the st. Coix blanks are over 100 ..... There are several blanks that are over 100 bucks and there. Is one made by One of the custom rod makers in Texas that just the Blank was over 300 the rod cost 650 to 750... Can remember the name off hand but they were at the boat show

thats not the point i am saying that waterloo is not building on 200 dollar blanks.

u just said a company built on a 300 dollar blank and the finished rod price was 650 to 750 so the waterloo on the 200 dollar blank would be 450 to 550?? depending on componets used

You build the boat the way you want it..... Its custom.... It come with trim tabs and Jack Plate standard....I built mine with an 8ft front deck that no other boat has.... I'm sure you can strip it down cheaper but I have a boat the way I wanted it ....you can do that for the price of a Hanyie boat

LPfishnTIM 03-06-2011 07:31 PM

I'm not a castaway or ASR fan, I wouldn't spend the money on a waterloo, I gotta say I agree with salty if its an academy rod can't go wrong with a falcon!

W, when Nate, Bruce and I went fishing in Lake Pontchartrain, Dumas was swingin' 27" reds in the boat with that Skeleton. Nate broke his rod by grabbing the last 12" and trying to pick a fish straight up. Dumass move.

Lol. There goes my answer.

To contribute to the thread.

I love falcon rods for the price. But they stopped their in store return policy.

So now if I ever need another conventional rod. It will prolly be shimano. But I got more than I need now plus 2 fly rods. So I'm good
