dang right, with the cost of gas right now, gotta get my money's worth...i guess it would be different if i went 3-4 days a week

Never caught any trout over 4, but would release them all, after a pic unless hurt bad.

I usually keep all of them because I fish alone alot . If I had someone to take my pic with a big one I would probably let it go . But then again my biggest was just a little over 5.

hardly ever keep fish over 3lbs to many small ones salt or fresh water

I throw all fish I catch back. I like eating them, but I like catching them more. So I let them all go back to fight another day, no matter the size.

I piled up a bunch of trout mounts a year or so ago and burned 'em. Once the new wears off....there ain't much to 'em. The memories are priceless.

I let em go over 4.5lbs or so...less she's too stressed or hooked deep. I'm not gonna mount anything under 8.8lbs....gonna set up a fishing game room/man cave w/ mounts of all saltwater species (most replicas). Want a setup something like this w/ the fighting chair as my night capper! Gonna make it a fish memorial! :smokin:

Got mine on the wall and not a replica.Anything over 4 lbs goes back except when fishing tournaments.

Caught a good many over 5lbs and kept em, but had a couple over dat get off unfortunately. Always happened in the surf when I didn't have a net. Oh well, the quest continues......
My brother's got one over 7 on the wall that he caught @ Fourchon in the surf.

got a stringer mount done with 4 trout all right at 8 lbs For me personally over 25" 6 lbs goes back I might keep one over 9 lbs unless I get some good pics and measurements on her

cajun can you post a pic of that stringer mount id love to see that or anyone else that has a stringer mount.

Just like with deer or bass, fishermen move through stages in there fishing. Larry Dalberg says, " When I started fishing I wanted to catch A fish; then I wanted to catch a bunch of fish. After that I wanted to catch a big fish. Now I want to catch em the way I want to catch em." All the different responses reflect different stages of an anglers growth in fishing I believe. What is great to hear though, is that most of you contemplate the future when you think about big fish and whether to release them or not. 30 years ago this conversation would have sounded a lot different. Oh, 4 lb. + swim again.

Good Point people always say " back when I was a kid the 7lb. trout were so thick you could walk across them" and I am thinking yea if you would not have killed them and released a few maybe our youth would be able to enjoy a few more today. I have way to much respect for those big girls, after the long life they live in a very hostile environment I am not going to be the one to kill them!

I'll admit that I've "killed" my share by mounting 'em. That kinda stuff is just not important to me, anymore. If I were to catch a 12 pounder tomorrow.....I'd cut 'er loose..
