Wyatt is stable and the doctors don't think we will have another episode like last Saturday, and for that I am grateful. It is hard to not be gun shy after last weekend but I am trying to stay positive for me and my wife. Keep the prayers coming and I'll keep the updates coming too.

I like this photo because it looks like he is riding in a tube floating down a river. The only thing he is missing is a beer!

Haha yeah big chillin....been praying for yall every night bro, keep the faith!

Wyatt has been okay the last 24 hours. The doctor took time to talk to us last night and explained things a little better than any of the other doctors have. The doctor told us that Wyatt is pretty sick and time is his best friend. They have seen this before and know how to tackle any problems he can throw at them. Wyatt is having problems with his blood pressure, his kidneys, and his lungs. The doctor explained some potential treatments for all those issues and non of them were too invasive. I'll update again when I hear more from the doctors today. The summary I took away from all this is Wyatt is down but he is not out. The next few days will tell us a lot.

DUCKGOGETTER 11-10-2011 08:34 AM

Stay strong i know it's probably easier said than done, but he needs it and i'm sure your wife is a mess right now. This is a miracle happening in front of ya'lls eyes god is in control and he has plans for little wyatt. Again we said a special little prayer last night for ya'll and will continue.

The doctors have started Wyatt on steroids to help his blood pressure and lung inflammation. The steroids while a temporary fix, have helped him out tremendously. They have lowered his vent setting twice in the last twelve hours and his blood pressure and urine output have been phenomenal. Actually, both have almost been too high so they have lowered his bp meds twice as well. I'm hoping that with all this improvement they will start attempting to feed him. I believe that with food in him he is going to improve. Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers.

The roller coaster ride continues. I get a call yesterday afternoon letting me know that Wyatt had developed a pneumothorax (a pocket of air on the outside of his lung) on the right side of his chest. The doctor put in a chest tube to relieve the pressure. Go to the hospital yesterday evening to check on him and he is starting to struggle again so they replace the chest tube and rearrange it. Watching him recover from this and he starts to struggle even more. The doctor decides to put in a second chest tube to relieve some pressure that was built up in an area the original tube wasn't draining. All in all an incredibly stressful night that I really don't know how many more like it I can stand. The second chest tube helped tremendously and Wyatt was doing pretty good through the night. We are going to head to hospital in a little bit to see him, so I'll have more information later. I know I sound like a broken record but we need all the prayers we can get. Wyatt is pretty sick and just needs a few days of recovery without something else going wrong. I am not sure how much more he can handle.

mikedatiger 11-12-2011 12:51 PM

Praying for you buddy

Dink 11-12-2011 01:31 PM

That's caused by the vent he's on. Its pretty normal. He's an amazing little man Lucas!!

southern151 11-12-2011 01:46 PM

As tough as it is, you need to keep the faith. I'm sure you can handle whatever is thrown at you! He's gonna bounce back.

Still, your family is the first thought in my prayers! Stay strong!

Mediumheavyaction6'6 11-12-2011 01:58 PM

Thanks guys! I am staying strong despite what I wrote in my update. It could always be worse, that's the montra I try and live by. This is a hard spot but he is doing better today and for that we are greatful.

An update on Wyatt:
As you all know, we've had a rough couple of days. Wyatt seems to be recovering finally and we need a couple days of rest. The chest x-ray this morning look better than any had in the past couple of days, the lungs seem to be recovering, hopefully this will fix the hole. The doctor is going to lower his blood pressure medication because he seems to be stable. At this point the best thing for him is going to be time. For the first time since he was born, we are hoping that he does nothing new today. Jamie and I would like to thank you for your thoughts and prayers And as always I'll keep you updated.

PaulMyers 11-13-2011 11:53 AM

Sounds like good news to me! Praying for yall, as always.

Hang in there!

Quick update:
Wyatt is doing well this morning. It appears he had a good afternoon yesterday and that followed into last night. Talking to the nurse this morning, they have lowered his vent settings because his blood gases were so good. If things continue this way today I believe they are going to turn off the suction on his chest tubes to see if the pneumothorax stays gone. At this point we are happy with the way Wyatt has recovered, he proves over and over just how much of fighter he is. These bumps in the road are hard to deal with but I have to believe that everyone he fights through just makes him stronger. As usual, thanks for the prayers and thoughts. I know we ALL need them.

southern151 11-14-2011 09:07 AM

Glad to hear of the progress! I hope that this trend continues!

Dink 11-14-2011 09:17 AM
