You know if the surf is right, it'll be ON!! It'll be shrimp season, too and if you gotta fish live, you'll probably score.

I'm sure you know of some other holes to get out the wind if it's a blowin';)

Sure wish i could make it

He's got 2 30 wides and 1 50 wide
Both spooled with mono. Not sure on #

What is the # line for tuna?

Also I've got a 4500 Stratic can that handle snapper??

Dink 02-27-2012 09:11 PM

I use a 6000 stradic with 40lb braid. 4500 may be light, but it'll be a fun fight!!

I make oil 02-27-2012 09:17 PM

Ever find that Bonita smell like black licorice? Bloody, bloody! But everything likes to eat them.

You won't get em off the bottom with a 4500 but if you put a heavy action shimano teramar rod with it you will have some fun with the mangroves !!!!

I got a few new snapper rods , we'll see as long as the weather looks good. But if the big trout are holding in a spot I'm gonna be mainly fishing them and run off for snapper later in the days

Around 400.00 maybe slightly higher but u won't be disappointed. Last year bob and I couldn't get the fish off the bottom with the crap we had so I splurged and bought 4 new setups for the boat

One of our buddies has a camp down there. I'm sure we will make it if the weather is looking right. Not really interested in the snapper fishing so hopefully the beach is on! I "worked" offshore for years and i believe my snapper days are over. Tuna is a different story...

But I agree if you gonna do it buy the good stuff.

Should be fine. I have a Penn 390 that is about the same size and I've caught hundreds of snapper on it

Another good one from last year..........

fishinpox 02-27-2012 11:27 PM

Website says it has 17.5 lb drag and my tekota 600 has 18 lb drag so it will be fine

speck-chaser 02-27-2012 11:29 PM

well thats good then!!

Dink 02-27-2012 11:30 PM

You got enough rod under it?

fishinpox 02-27-2012 11:34 PM

It really depends on how deep u r fishing , sometimes we don't plan on snapper fishing n we are in Breton sound n decide to run to some shallow rigs(50-65') n catch snapper on trout rods n curados ...just depends on the size of fish n depth . But if u run down river n get into 150+ ft u need a lil arse to get em up
