just talked to my father-n-law and he runs twin oaks rv park in gc and he said that as of right now they have a negative storm surge and he sees mud. He talked to somebody at wildlife this morning adn they said later this afternoon they should see a 1-3 foot surge. He also said that the winds are like yesterday. I will keep you posted as i talk to him today.

Anyone know anything about Houma? I see the eye is on top of them now. Have a buddy down there and we haven't heard from him in awhile, of course he is probably sleeping off a hang around by now.

Wife and kids are in Berwick across the river from Morgan City. She says the wind is pretty bad and lots of rain. Electricity is still on. Tons of pics on FB from the area getting the crap kicked out of us over there it looks like and it's still coming. I'm in Africa at work and wishing I was home. She has everything boarded up and my oldest son is over to help out in case something happens. I wish the damn thing would just speed up and move on. It's only going 6mph and dumping tons of water. My ex lives in Pierre Part and I've been trying to get with her to check on our son but can't get through. I hope they got out of town. My son lives down shell beach on Lake Verret. I just wish he would answer his damn cell phone so I can know where he is and that he is all right.

Also hope Capt. Hoop is alright.

Lots of people were rescued from the Braithwaite area. The home of Parish President Billy Nungesser was heavily damaged. He is really pissed about the NHC's inabilty to warn officials with "accurate" details. He said there's no way this is a Cat 1 hurricane. Obviously, the levee down there was not expected to be damaged by this system.

Montauk17 08-29-2012 11:29 AM

Man that is crazy never seen the canal that low even in the winter

Uuhhhggg..........Dude how can he get pissed....its mother nature and its is below sea level and it is surrounded by man made levees ???

I was pissed when I saw two babies getting in a boat off a roof both under one years old............Unreal some would not get there children out of a place that is protected by a levee during a hurricane

Higher classification = more $$$ for parish. They all do it. That's why they fought 15 years to get Andrew re-classified.

The radar shows the feeder bands to look like worse conditions than the actual eyewall. Got some bad stuff goin' through here right now. Can not believe we ain't lost power (knock on wood).

Isaac has moved 42 miles since 4:00 am.:eek:

North wind is kicking over here right now.. calcasieu is dropping quick. Got about 3 foot depth left in my 7 ft canal

fishnla 08-29-2012 11:57 AM

Just talked to friend in Houma, he is without electricity but has generator up and running. Little water but nothing to worry about yet. He said the worst is still to come of course but he has plenty of alcohol and fireworks (yeah he isn't right).

TV just said that 40% of Houma is w/o power.

They are about to get hit from the southwest.

Winds just started to get bad in Pierre part. Steady around 50 right now. The worst will be between 2pm and 7pm. They say we will have winds in excess of 60 for that 5 hour period.

Who is your son?
