Bring it by and let me look at it.

Or as W said, send it back and they will repair it.

Do they charge shipping on warranty work?

It Prolly won't but the smaller profile 50 just feels better to me....

And the whole purpose of the mg is to go light so why not go lightest?
Unless line capacity is an issue.

Check out the shimano scorpion mg's. They are the Japanese version of the chronarch only difference is they have a dial for the breaks. Usually have some on eBay.

SaltyShaw 04-06-2013 07:02 AM

Japanese scorpion is an electronic braking system,DC7 is.
I like the XT1000 wich is SVS braking, pretty bad arse reels, I'm ordering one soon

I was talkin about the japanese scorpion 1000 mg which has the 4x4 SVS brake system not digital.

I think the newer scorpion DC7 is the first scorpion to have the DC brakes.
All the scorpions seem pretty bad a$$

SaltyShaw 04-06-2013 09:06 AM

They changed them name of the MG scorpion it's a Albetros it's bad arse but not $450 bad arse lol

Capt. Kade Shaw

Yea all those japanese models look sweet but they want BIG money for them....

I did see that scorpion 1000 xt for a decent price on japantackle.com they seem comparable to the chronarch E.

"W" 04-06-2013 11:45 AM

What is the Jap reel for the core

SaltyShaw 04-06-2013 11:49 AM

Slightly lighter and tuned better than chronarch, and they have a 6:4:1 ratio
Buying one off japantackle today!

Waltrip that is the Aldebaron now

Those new quantums are light. But I'm not sure how they hold up to the salt.

The regular smoke is terrible for salt. I have seen reports that the inshore version rusts… Wouldn't touch Quantum with a ten foot pole for salt.

Just got back from Fishing Tackle Unlimited and have to say that the Team Lew's Pro is awesome.

SaltyShaw 04-06-2013 03:19 PM

I know man I been looking at that one for a while I just can't fish with a full size reel like that I'm so used to 50s

Lol damn I had forgot about scorpions before this thread, now I have an XT on the way

My oldest one had a little corrosion around the side where you open up for breaks but that's about it

lsufish 04-06-2013 07:31 PM

I have a core, and have yet to experience any corrosion issues.

However, I do follow the instructions and tighten drag all the way, run it under the sink while reeling, and then loosen drag all the way to air out.

For those that have cores, how often do you oil them, where do you apply it, and what type of oil do you prefer?

I never wash then at all....have them cleaned once a year by Ron

I will spray some reel magic on then every now and then

lsufish 04-06-2013 09:46 PM

Who's Ron? Burgundy?
