Right. The main problem with the coke commercial is the apparent acceptance and perhaps advocacy of public policy acceptance of ILLEGAL immigration and the extension of expensive services (public education, health care, etc.) to illegal immigrants. Other than due process to determine by the perponderance of the evidence that they are in the country illegally, ILLEGAL immigrants should not have many rights while ILLEGALLY in the US. They certainly should NOT have the right to an education, the right to vote, the right to healthcare, the RKBA, etc.

the music the shop guys are listening to made me think of the issue

DON'T HATE THE PLAYER HATE THE GAME

hahaha

mcjaredsandwich 02-03-2014 12:22 PM

Who said anything about this being directed toward illegal immigrants?

From what I recall, there are several languages in the commercial and the vibe I got was coca-cola trying to represent the U.S. as a culturally diverse nation of individuals forming a whole.

Man, y'all let Fox News get y'all fired up!!!

You can't even spell "3"!:work:

The commercial was just a commercial. I don't see a problem with it at all. The US is one of the most intolerant countries in the world when it comes to foreign languages. As stated earlier, almost every other developed country in the world knows at least two languages. We are really behind the curve in that aspect.

Most of us have enough experience with American politics to realize that most discussions positive on "cultural diversity" carry implicit suggestions regarding favorable treatment of "undocumented workers."

Marketing people earn lots of money for effective communication of a message without saying so much explicitly. There is definitely room to defend the Coke commercial claiming, "It said nothing about illegals." At the same time, there is plenty of room to express concern regarding a commercial that has not so subtle hints at political advocacy.

One would be naive to believe that there was no intent in the commercial to "soften" the audience toward more favorable treatment of "undocumented workers."

The US is behind the curve on education in general..... And I have a hard time believing that immigrants, both legal and illegal, are to blame. The amount of paranoia over a simple commercial is staggering! :headknocker:

Smalls 02-03-2014 01:44 PM

What's next? Are people going to start complaining about the interspecies relationship between the Dog and the Clydesdale in the Budweiser commercial? lmao!! :rotfl:

My wife's comment on that one was, "Too cute. If only their brewers were as good as their marketers."

I do think we should take more care to point out that referring to concern as "paranoia" is exaggerated. "Paranoia" suggests irrationality, delusion, and madness. So, just because some conservatives are paranoid does not mean that the liberals are not pushing a foolish and destructive agenda.

mcjaredsandwich 02-03-2014 02:13 PM

Mathgeek, tell me how conservatives aren't pushing "the same" destructive agenda. While there may be a few key differences between the two, both parties are in it for each other, and to think otherwise is foolish.

How old are you? Look at your check statement each pay period and tell me how much difference there is between the two major political parties.
Read, be informed past X-Box and ESPN and you may find the real differences between them. Apathy and indifference elected our current Prezzy and the other Loons in Washington. Also, he (Jug Ears) recieved about 80% of the 18-24 yr old vote.

Both want our tax dollars
Both champion freedom yet protect the NSA
Neither side gives a damn.

Repubs: no welfare, healthcare or social programs but let's spend too much on defense

Libs: Cut defense but pump up social programs

So raymond tell me how wanting our tax dollars is different...

Voted Gary Johnson, btw. Isn't a rock dog or whatever that whole argument was about barking for you?

Libertarian, should have known but i have some Libertarian tendencies also but understand that the party will never be a mainstay in America, Ever. I am a realist and understand that sometimes you vote for the lessor of evils in this world because it will never be perfect. The MIC has out grown it's usefullness and many believe we could down size by using elite forces more economically. I'm all for pulling our troops out of Europe and stationing them on the Texas/Arizona/California border for ILLEGAL ALIEN INTRADICTION. Want to smoke, have at it but when your company $hit cans you don't go legal just get another job since that's what a Libertarian would do.
If you can't speak our language, get the F out. Assimilate to our customs or get the F out. If you don't believe we are the land of the free and home of the brave, get the F out.

The NSA has been around longer than you have so thinking that it will go away is foolish. We need agencies like the NSA and CIA to make sure those that would harm us are stopped. Where I dissagree is when they eavesdrop on citizens. They should be listening to every towel head, slurpy jocky and goat herder living in America or better yet, Deport them all.

How many school shootings and terrorist threats have they stopped ?

But they have done a little thing called parallel construction where they give anonymous tips to law enforcement to bust drug dealers on the reg. why ? Because there is money in asset forfeiture and hard labor for inmates.
Patriot act
1618 bust for drugs

Wachovia admitted it didn’t do enough to spot illicit funds in handling $378.4 billion for Mexican-currency-exchange houses from 2004 to 2007. That’s the largest violation of the Bank Secrecy Act, an anti-money-laundering law, in U.S. history -- a sum equal to one-third of Mexico’s current gross domestic product.

Guess what not one person went to jail.

A well armed society is the only way to stop random acts of violence;school, movie, coffee house shootings. We have no clue how many terrorist plots have been stopped and shouldn't. Seal the border and 95% of the drug problem will dissapear overnight. Send special forces into Old Meheco and the cartels will evaporate overnight. Teddy Roosevelt said to walk softly and carry a big stick, our current prezzy has that stick up his azz and the world knows it. Everytime a Dim is Prez the worlds fruit loop leaders go buck wild because they know Dims are Puzzy's.

Winston Churchill

This quote pretty much sums up what the Dim party is. No difference between the two parties what so ever is there?

There are key differences between "Republicans" and conservatives. I find that there are principled conservatives in several political parties. In contrast, many Republicans are pushing destructive policy agendas in a variety of areas including immigration reform, fiscal policy, taxes, health care, the environment, and the size and overreaching power of the federal government.

By definition, true conservatives are working to limit the size and scope of government, reduce taxes, and move government at all levels into strict compliance with Constitutional functions and boundaries.

Then I am a true conservative and sick of this liberal agenda shoved down our throat. Political correctness is ruining this country. The pres could give a **** about the law or the constitution. Wants to take our hard earned money and give it to those that want something for nothing and I'm not talking about unemployed people that truly want to work. I'm talking about, well, you know who I'm talking about and race has nothing to do with my feelings.

southern151 02-03-2014 06:06 PM

Well, it looks like they may have felt a little bit of a sting today. Stock dropped a little over 3%...I don't really believe that 3% has much to do with a commercial.

So sad people can't realize that Coke is an international brand and the Super Bowl is an international event. People getting feelings hurt over commerce.

Pretty simple for me. We are a multiple cultural nation and coke wants more than just white people to buy their product.

I doubt that many on this board speak Natchez ( there are about 6 speakers left in the world). So, none of us speak the native language of this land and we all should have got the f out a long time ago... OR maybe should be tolerant of all the other non-native speakers.

DA COVE 02-08-2014 10:40 AM

My dad had to learn to speak English when he started school since French wasn't the spoken in school. And yes I had a problem with the commercial. Once a person decides to make America their home they need to conform. If they love their previous country so much, they should have stayed. Accepting is killing this country.. America the beautiful in America is suppose to be sang in English!! To many sheeple.

Clampy 02-08-2014 11:19 AM

And how do we know those people dont speak English as well. What a very silly thing to be upset about.

I can't believe these ideas still exist.

Could you imagine if other countries had this sentiment towards us?

I've traveled the world, and so do a lot of folks that bring large amounts of money back into the crap pot towns y'all live in. And, if it weren't for foreign people being tolerant of our arrogant American asses, we would never be successful over there. I don't know a single American person speaking an Asian language, yet we go over there and expect everyone to cater to us. And they do.

This is a global generation, this is a country founded on immigration.

LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL, not just your entitled white ***

FREEDOM OF SPEECH, people are free to speak however they feel. There is no asterix that says *as long as it's in southern english*
