Corey is doing a bang up job. The farther along it goes the happier I am I chose Corey to do this build. I could have just done things easy but where is the fun in that? This car will definitely be unique. If anyone is thinking about a project like this don't expect it to happen quickly. It will take twice as long as you think and cost twice as much money. Make sure you have a plan when you go into it and try to stick to the plan as much as possible. I've changed up a few things as we've gone along and they certainly add to the cost and time frame of the job.

Just got the motor back and, we are ready to assemble now! New transmission is here as well as all mounts and, crossmembers. We will be mocking the install early next week to make sure we have ample clearance for the motor and tran. From there, it's on to finishing body work!

Fuel cell just came in.

alphaman 10-22-2014 03:22 PM

Where are you getting all your parts from? Ill be starting my restoration nx year

I make oil 10-22-2014 04:25 PM

Different places. CJ pony parts, modern driveline, Mustangs to fear, Stangaholics, Jegs, Summit and EBay mainly. Depends on what parts you need. I will have lots of factory stuff left over if you need it. I gave most of the pull offs to Corey but I'm sure he will work something out with you if there is something you can use.

alphaman 10-22-2014 10:17 PM

Cool. I'll give you a call. Prob this weekend if your free

I should have some more photos up by the end of next week. Our production side has been crazy lately and, quality help has been completely the opposite!

The car is now on a rotisserie for blasting the bottom welding it all out and spraying on a bed liner over the entire bottom. When it goes back on the ground it will hopefully be on its own wheels and heading to paint.

Matt G 02-11-2015 10:39 PM

That suckers gonna be awesome. When it's finished, it's gonna be like the reverse of the old Red Solvine song Teddy Bear. Saltycajun members lined up for three city blocks waiting for a turn to ride!

Here's a little progress. We've been so busy and, short-staffed that the Stang got put on the back burner but, things are coming around now. I had a guy come and wet blast the bottom of the car. The yellowish looking stuff is an acid based primer to lock out any potential for corrosion. Now, it's on to seam sealing and, spray-in bedliner on the bottom of the car.

The engine is finally all together and ready to bold up to the transmission. The clutch and flywheel are on order. The rear differential is going together. The AC is ordered as well as the Lizard skin sound deadened and heat control. The car should be a going together real soon. :D

marty f 05-27-2015 11:36 AM

cant wait to see this ride!!!

jpd0144 05-27-2015 11:52 AM

Looks to be something special !

I had a 66' that was semi restored for a daily driver. My family owns Don's Body Shop in Marksville. They helped me tremendously to make it happen.

Being hard headed and thinking I needed different toys I ended up selling it like a fool.
Till this day I'm still disappointed in myself.

Hope the final assembly goes well. I'm excited to see the end result !

I make oil 05-27-2015 01:40 PM

Thanks guy's for the comments and encouragement. Corey is doing a great job on the car. If anyone is ever in the Gonzales area you should drop in and see it. If I know Corey he'd love to show it off and visit.

Time for some updates.

With this big engine I wanted to make sure there where no cooling issues soooo I bought an aluminum radiator made to fit a 69 Mustang. Of course it was much bigger and required modification to fit. I think this should provide plenty of cooling. ;)

I make oil 07-29-2015 09:23 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Since it gets so hot here in Louisiana I also want plenty of cooling inside the car. Her is the AC condensor installed. More custom mounts needed for this as well.

I make oil 07-29-2015 09:27 PM

1 Attachment(s)
I bought all my AC from Restomod Air. All of their systems are custom which of course requires custom installation. I wanted unit as high up under the dash as possible and it needed tone off of the firewall to allow room for the hoses and wiring to pass.

Mocked in place.

Now all of the major body mods are finished. It's time to begin assembly. :D. The front crossmember is painted and ready for assembly.

I make oil 07-29-2015 09:35 PM

The rear differential all together and ready for installation.

I make oil 07-29-2015 09:37 PM

Lizard Skin installed. They are blocking the engine bay and getting ready to paint with body color.

That's it for now. I'll post up more updates as the car progresses.
