I would look at cats.... Not very fast but they can get pretty skinny and handle some serious slop. I've even seen trolling motors mounted on the baycats

Cajun Hunter 03, I think that is his screen name, just got a Haynie 24' cat. PM him

They run twin vees too but most of the big names down there run Freeman cats yellowfins and a few run invincibles

if money is really no option a good boat for inshore and a overnighter would be a gause built. do a lil research on them and you will find lots of info. drafts shallow and is offshore capable.

No I hardly see any twinvees anymore, saw 4 freemans, prolly 20 glacier bays, and a handful of world cats .

Maybe a Yellowfin 23 CC? 18 inch draft from of an "offshore" boat for your trips to the weirs....although if I had anything with the name "Yellowfin" on it, it wouldn't come within 100 yards of those rocks, and it looks like it has enough room in front of the console to pitch a tent for spending the night in the gulf!! LOL....but seriously though....

CoastalObession 07-13-2011 02:17 PM

shallow sport 27 latitude single tunnel. Runs in spit and can go 100+ out. And is made in Texas.

i got the perfect boat (for me anyway)
leaving tonight to go pick it up world cat 266 sc

rodfatherfishin 08-16-2011 01:12 PM

Look at a used Twin Vee, most fishing room and best ride i've seen. Friends have the 26 and 36. 22 or 26 run shallow ride great and get great mileage. Cats don't need as much power as mono hulls because there is less drag with less hull in the water. If you want to do both offshore and inshore, These are great no nonsense boats.
